“Stunning location”

What an incredible experience. The location is stunning and unique. Staff were super helpful and provided great service. The food was lovely. We had half-board so dinner and breakfast included. Having a small car we asjed for a pick up from the bottom of the mountain. I would not have wanted to drive that road. The walk up behind the village is stunning and the place is comfortable, not too boutiqie and retains original elements. Beautiful views, serene and very chill.

Very authentic location, stunning views. Staff were very very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The spectacular drive up to the village at 2000 m does require a 4x4 with low-gear, and is not for the faint-hearted. Nice walk up the mountain. Interesting irrigation.

The apartments are clean and comfortable and well-heated. Breakfast and Dinner were satisfactory and included options for vegetarians. The location is stunning and the local people of Wakan are very friendly and welcoming.

The accommodation is in a fantastic location, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is lovingly prepared. Definitely do the village walk – the views are amazing. Many other hiking trails start there. The only downside: the road there is not for the faint of heart. Steep, narrow, and exposed. Of all the off-road tracks we drove in Oman, this was the worst.Wadi Bani Awf is a walk in the park by comparison. But the section is very short, and if necessary, the hotel staff will assist or offer a shuttle.

The SAMA Wakan Heritage lodge is superb. The staff were absolutely brilliant and made the stay exceptional. The location is amazing as it is right on the edge of the old village looking out over the mountains and wadi with a fantastic view. The hiking trails leave right from the doorstep. My room was comfortable and traditional and great value for money. Please remember this is a heritage lodge not a 5* beach hotel! The rooms are quaint and rustic but very nice. The meals are hearty and filling, just what you need in the mountains. There are lovely patio areas and indoor lounges with large windows overlooking the valley. All in all, an exceptional property and I strongly recommend it for a weekend stay. Please note, you will need a 4 x 4 to get up the final 5 km if you are driving yourself. There are various transfer services for those without a 4x4.
