“Charming hotel but lacking service, warmth and soul”

Hospitality the Etretat way A stay at Le Tilleuls is remarkable in many ways. You will get to stay in an 19th century house with beautiful rooms and a garden that is lush and feels like a little oasis. An Oasis in the otherwise barren hospitality desert that is Le Tilleuls. The service is remarkable, because the staff are so admirably unbothered with maintaining a standard you could expect for 370€ a night. Free from the heavy burden of service orientation, the staff enjoys the relaxed environment while guests are empowered to awkwardly request excess benefits like change towels, additional breakfast or non-runny eggs Room cleaning follows a minimalist concept that would make every water saving environmentalist’s heart sing. Glasses are not exchanged and empty water bottled not removed, an invitation to reuse! In line with the same frugal philosophy the blowdryer does not fit the sockets in the room, a particularly nifty energy saving hack! All jokes aside, as a B&B for half the price, Le Tilleuls would be a great stay. Given the price tag, we had a different expectation for service and hospitality. Do with it what you will, but a few more suggestions for improvement are: - Exchange the Lidl branded coffee from the Nespresso and maybe offer some way of froffed milk for refined coffee specialties - Room bathroom could use a deep clean and a repaint of toilet seat - Extra charge for parking at this price tag We would have shared some of this feedback in person as well, had we ever been asked about our stay. Ultimately, the specific improvements would be negligible if one truly felt welcomed and cherished as a guest of the house. Arguably not a costly investment yet instant and near certain returns, give it a shot!

“Perfect and unique”

Very beautiful property with perfectly curated interiors. The room was pretty sizeable for two people and the terrace just takes it over the top. The breakfast was delicious. It's family owned which makes it that much more charming. Something to be aware of is that there is no AC and fridge/mini-bar in the room. It wasn't a huge deal for us, though.

The place was perfect, the staff were highly professional and very welcoming. The breakfast was wonderful, enjoyed while overlooking the beautiful garden. And all of this right next to the house of Maurice Leblanc—it felt like living inside one of his stories.

Such a lovely place with wonderful people taking care of each tiny detail there. The dinners are amazing, definitely worth booking!

Wow. We were so lucky to book this gem. From the minute we walked into this hotel we were entranced by everything from the delicious smells emanating from the open kitchen to the roaring fire in the cozy common room to the warm and inviting staff. Our room, like the rest of the property, was so beautiful. Tastefully decorated with a mix of antique furniture and modern conveniences. The availability of the spa was another pleasant surprise. I was so disappointed that we were staying only one night and hope to return sometime when I can stay longer.

It was one of the most pleasant and memorable stays at the hotel, everything was amazing: the food, the interior, the atmosphere, special thanks to the hotel owners, it was magnificent🩷

We stayed in the "Tiny House" within the grounds and it was superbly presented and extremely cosy. The rest of the hotel was immaculate and gave a feel that you were at home. The lady who looked after us was charming and very helpful and is a credit to the hotel. We will stay here again and again

“Wonderful experience”

We had a wonderful stay! It’s such a cozy, authentic, and beautiful place — full of charm and character. The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming, and you can really feel the love and care that went into creating it. The hosts were incredibly kind and warm, and we felt truly at home. We especially enjoyed spending time with the cat — it made the experience even more lovely and homey :) The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented — a real pleasure to start the day with. The location is also perfect: the town is small, so we were basically right in the center, close to everything. We honestly couldn’t find a single negative thing — everything was just perfect. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience!

“I felt like home”

One of the best stays ever, I felt like home. The hosts were very friendly and happy to help (I had a late check-in issue, which was resolved). The hotel itself is a work of art, there is soul in everything you see - from a beautiful garden, to a spacious common living room with a fortepiano and a fireplace, to a crafty kitchen and a dining area, where all guests gather for breakfast, to the rooms themselves. Mine was on the second floor and was huge, literally - the bathroom was twice as big as some of my stays in Paris. It felt like every little thing was carefully chosen, which in turn made me feel special. To the more practical points - the bed was big and comfy, the shower spacious and had all the toiletries, the terrace was perfect for chilling outside (though it was too cold during my stay). I also liked the breakfast, which the host cooked together with his son - eggs, yogurts, French toasts, cheeses, and coffee, all fresh and made just for you and right in front of you (well, not right in front, but I hope you get the point). Lastly, the gatherings room on the top floor was a blast, I could enjoy the view of Etretat's roofs from an elevated windowsill (I spent 30 mins just staring out of the window and summoning seagulls). All in all - I wish I could stay for more than just 1 night, it was a crime to leave so early. Hope I will be able to stay for longer in future

Breakfast was excellent and made me regret not to have booked dinner in advance of our trip. We arrived too late to be able to order it. We understood why the reservation for dinner must be made in advance as everything they cook is fresh from the day.

Family run hotel. The couple were very very friendly and went out of their was to take care of us. The parking in the bach was an added plus point.

Amazing old building, stylish, calm and comfortable. Nice garden 😍 Rooms are spacious and clean. Fantastic owner, very nice and friendly person. Delicious breakfast. 3 minutes to the beach.
