“Stunning place and a memorable stay.”
Stunning building in an isolated spot. Fabulous interior but not many people about to ask about vespers and dining. Eventually found dinner in staff kitchen for about 6 staff and us. Nice food and a memorable stay.

“An wonderful stay that we will never forget.”
This is a working historic monastery. The accommodation is simple. It was very clean and everything worked. The monks have marked out good walks in the woods, along the stream and up to a view point, which we would recommend. We had the evening meal in the refectory which is a set menu at a set time made from local products and we very much enjoyed it. The host organised a walk after the meal to enjoy the stars but unfortunately it was foggy but he still made it interesting.

“I have never stayed in a working monastery before and I liked it”
It was very different to anywhere I have stayed before. It is basic but has everything you need. I would have liked to stay for a second night if I had the time.

Location was amazing, building was stunningly beautiful. Our welcome and stay were made exceptional by Fernando. We were looked after and guided by this man. We went star gazing with him and it was the most amazing experience ever. He is marvelous as he is so knowledgeable.

“Wonderful experience”
Beautiful building, large room with lovely view across the valley. The monastery is set in an idyllic rural location, very peaceful. I slept exceptionally well. Staff very helpful, no issues with check in or departure. Very highly recommended, an experience not to be missed.

To discover this magical place was indeed a gift from heaven. Father Fernando, the senior priest , was so kind and inclusive. It was a very special experience.

“Beautiful and silent place”
Staying there was such a nice experience, everybody was extremely nice. The surroundings are very beautiful and the silence is amazing. We will for sure come back once we will need an accomodation in the area

Located between a Pine forest & an Olive grove, 4 kms from the closest town; Monasterio el Olivar is the perfect place for a relaxing few days or retreat. Staff are super caring & the star nights divine as Galactic aficionado Father Fernando weaves together Astronomy & stories from ancient myths & legends. The food was delicious & both times I stayed I had rooms with Valley views. Just magical!
