Lovely little paradise in the northwest of France. Not far from the coast and Dunkirk, and within walking distance of Esquelbecq. The guesthouse is fully equipped and very comfortable. We received a warm welcome from the host and truly enjoyed our stay.

“Wonderful relaxing farm house in the countryside.”

Wonderful restored farm house and stables. 45 mins drive from Calais Eurotunnel (no tolls). Delphine provides a very personal approach and arriving late due to channel tunnel delays was no problem, plus the breakfast is fabulous. I chose it as it is near to a WWII memorial just 2 mins drive away near Esquelbecq. Also was convenient for visiting Belgium for Welsh War Memorial, Ypres, Yorkshire Trench and Tyne Cot Cemetery. I would love to stay for a longer time and will certainly return if I go to this area.

Everything was just fantastic. The Guesthouse is set in quiet countryside and was really comfortable and relaxing. The hostess was really helpful and the breakfast was fabulous. It was just what I needed after two weeks of cycle-touring.

“Relaxing Holiday”

The location is excellent and quiet. A beautiful farm and the converted barn was outstanding. Excellent accommodation for a family self contained holiday, and the owner was out of this world and helpful. It's just a short and pleasant walk into the town. And walking to the train station I did it in 25 easy minutes. The views from the accommodation are across open fields, and outside was a relaxing pond alongside the patio area.

Paardenhof Guesthouse is beautifully situated in the countryside in a converted stable. The restoration has been done in the best possible way, taking care of a lot of details from the stable and combining it with all the facilities your expect from a modern guesthouse. On our arrival we were well received in a personal and friendly manner by the hostess, Delphine. The room was lovely decorated and with excellent beds we sleept well. The farm is situated in an very quite area with fields in all directions and small roads for an evening walk and a chat with the horses. Highly recommended.

Excellent host,facilities and location

“Out of all the places we have stopped in over the years, this is without doubt our favourite.”

As motorcyclists who like to do a bit of touring, this guest house is always our favourite starting point in Europe. Delphine has started to do evening meals which are tasty and very good value. It's located a short ride to the south of Dunkirk and 40 minutes from the Channel Tunnel. Its an ideal place to use as a quick stop over or to use as a base for exploring northern France. Always very clean and tidy, with room in an old barn to park a few bikes.

Delphine was the perfect hostess and the place was just lovely, quiet and peaceful in the French countryside. We used Paardenhof as our base for exploring Dunkerque and Wizernes. Delphine treated us with a lovely dinner and the breakfast was exquisite. Highly recommended.

The property is exceptional, from the architecture, renovation, decoration, location and security, we could not fault it. This property was perfect for our bike packing and would be considered luxurious for general holiday adventures. It is situated close to Esquelbecq village where we experienced an exceptional lunch at the ´Au Bon Coin’. Delphine, our host foresaw everything we needed including meeting us earlier than requested because of the bad weather forecast. She provided dîner and breakfast which was of restaurant standard.

Delphine is a wonderful, attentive and experienced host with an eye for detail and a keen focus on customer service. The rooms a situated in a lovingly restored old farmhouse, with lots of character to it. Guests are being welcomed not only with a delicious glass of wine and a warm and welcoming attitude by the host, but also by the adorable family pets and horses, that live on the premises. We absolutely loved our stay here and definitely hope to be back in the future.

“Converted horse stable in rural France”

Situated in the grounds of an old farm in rural France, this property is in a converted horse stable. Access to the room is up a narrow and very steep stairway. The rooms are constructed within the roof space so there is limited headroom. Breakfast was pleasant with excellent eggs from the resident chickens but is paid extra as explained in the details on Booking. There is a stagnant pond right next to the building and the windows do not have mosquito nets. Nice to spend time with the horses in the evening.
