“Wonderful small pension, friendly owners, quiet and clean”
Excellent homestay pension in the heart of the Franconian wine region. Very friendly and uncomplicated owners, great breakfast, big spotlessly clean rooms. The village of Escherndorf is small and not as famous as its counterparts such as Sommerach, Nordheim or Vollkach, but has also a number of wineries and a good cooperative (Genossenschaft), and there are many options to make nice walks in the hilly vineyards around. My best tip: take the little old-fashioned "ferry" to Nordheim, the other village accross the Main, where you can take a nice swim in the river (which at this place is closed for boat traffic, which is diverted thanks to the canal). Vollkach, the main touristy town in the region, is a also a short drive away for a great variety of restaurants.

“Quiet location, with good choice of restaurants nearby”
We arrived by bike, and got good advice from our host on where to lock up our bikes, where to eat. There's plenty of choice, but the campsite got our custom - within easy walking distance and does tasty, very reasonably-priced food and drink. Cycling makes you hungry ;o) Our room was spacious with a view over the local countryside, and the breakfast next morning was substantial and beautifully-presented.

This is a lovely family hotel. We had everything we need for the time we stopped there. Especially we appreciate personal attitude of the owners. They are very nice and helpful.
