An amazing location overlooking Little Adams Peak, Ella Mountain, waterfall and the rail line. Up above the town and a short stroll down through some alleys to town. Wonderful hosts. Would definitely stay again and longer.

The view from our bedrooms was out of this world. It was a short walk into Ella along the train tracks. They gave us a very generous breakfast every morning. Would highly recommend staying here.

It was up a hill but go to the train line and there are two ways to get walk to town. Left down the train line takes you to the top of town, straight ahead goes down a hilly walk to town. We are older and managed both ways. The view from the breakfast terrace was great. Our room was tucked away with a lovely garden. We watched the monkeys eat their fill across the train line. No monkeys on our side. Breakfast great and we had to stop them feeding us so much. Lovely people who run it.

“Beautiful relaxing stay close to town”

Such a beautiful boutique family run hotel. The rooms were huge and made of stone and wood. We had the most amazing views over the mountains and a waterfall . Breakfast was huge and really lovely

Wow what can we say - this place was amazing and we loved it here. The views were stunnning and it is a room away from the main hotel which meant it was so quiet and secluded. There was everything you needed there. The breakfast was huge and served on the terrace with a fantastic view. The staff organised a trip up Little Adams Peak and also took us to swim in the secret waterfalls- they could not do enough for you. Although it was difficult to find, we found it a lot easier to say it was part of the Laura Hotel and then everyone knew where it was. It was only a short walk in to the centre of Ella and even quicker once we found we could walk along the train lines. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Ella - it was everything you could want and more.

So amazing!! Just woooow. Best room we had on our trip in Sri Lanka. Just beautiful! Its for people that can walk properly beacuse its up on a hill.

The location is very convenient and close to the town, the scenery is amazing, the place itself made like old houses from stones. Very beautiful.

We loved the view from our room, it really blew us away. The whole place is beautiful decorated and it’s just a short walk to Ella and a tuk tuk back up the hill hosts are so helpful and organised our onward journey. Don’t hesitate to book

“True blue Sri Lankan old charm. You will not want to leave.”

Although the hotel was very hard to find - as its sign posted under a completely different name - it was a WOW factor when we find it. Perched high up on a hill, it oozes old Sri Lankan charm. Our room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed - shutter doors opened up to a grey cobbled balcony filled with flowers. The view was amazing - I could have sat there all day drinking it all in. Breakfast is served the roof top. The best breakfast we had eaten on our 16 day tour. We chose Sri Lankan - vegetable roti, coconut pancakes, sambar, potato curry and Dahl. Also eggs, fresh papaya juice (there is a choice) and a pot of tea. The owner & his family are very warm & welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in other places 3 times more than this one - & did not get the quality as The Black Stone. Highly recommend.

“Best place to relax, soak in the views”

The stay is located very close to the main area where the restaurants and the train station are but set on a slope away from the hustle and bustle. The views from the room are amazing. The staff too are very helpful and polite. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone travelling to ella.
