“Just lovely!”

This is a little gem of a place, run by a lovely family, who really look after their guests. Quiet location, along the tracks (see train on its way to the 9 Arch Bridge). Stairs to the property will keep you fit, monkeys will keep you entertained and enjoy the waterfall view.

I LOVED this place!!! Waking up to this view made me so happy, I'm sure it will leave a footprint in my Sri Lanka memories forever. The family is sooooo sweet and the breakfast is stunning! Great bed, so you get a fantastic sleep. 10 to 15 min walk into town which I didn't mind

Close to Ella city (walkable distance), nice view on waterfall from the room terrace where you have breakfast. Really good local breakfast, stayed here for 2nights and ate 2 different breakfast. Nice local family bussines.

Her dad is a tuktuk driver, you can arrange a trip directly with him. The place is paradise, quiet, view of the waterfall. You can easily walk to Ella. We are very gratefull for this time!

“A Peaceful Gem in Ella. We Did Not Want to Leave”

Wow, what a place to stay. Run by such a lovely and welcoming family, this accommodation truly feels like a home away from home. If you are coming to Ella, look no further, this is the place to stay. The property has only two rooms, both with private balconies where you can enjoy breakfast while taking in the beautiful views and listening to birds singing. The breakfasts were very good, freshly prepared, tasty, and filling. We were always full and satisfied, and they always tried to make something special for our toddler, from pancakes to eggs prepared without any spices, which we really appreciated. You can also order dinner, which is delicious and very reasonably priced. One of the rooms has two double beds and a small area with artificial grass outside, which our toddler absolutely loved playing on. The entire accommodation is spotless, very comfortable, and well equipped with a fridge, kettle, hair dryer, international power sockets, and mosquito nets. In January we did not have any mosquitoes at all. The shower uses solar heating, and on cloudy days they switch to an electric heater. We always had hot water. The water pressure could be better, but it was completely fine. The hosts were incredibly helpful and kind. They did our laundry and organised a scooter for us, which made our stay even easier. The location is perfect, about a ten minute walk from the centre of Ella, far enough away to be wonderfully quiet and relaxing. The walk is flat and follows the railway tracks, and even our three year old enjoyed it and managed the whole distance easily. To reach the accommodation you need to climb sixty six steps, which is similar to walking up to the third floor of an apartment building. There is no air conditioning, but it was not needed at all. January nights in Ella are cooler, and the temperature was perfect for sleeping. If you arrive by car or taxi, you can drive down to the railway tracks where there is space to turn around.

The room was lovely and very clean. It’s quiet and relaxing and the view from the balcony is stunning. Dulukshi looked after us very well and her mother cooks the most delicious food. There are steps up to the property but Dulukshi and her mother help to carry luggage. It’s an easy walk into town along the railway line. We will definitely stay here next time we visit Sri Lanka and I would highly recommend Snuggle Cottage.

“Quiet homey place”

If you look for a place a bit further away from Ella’s hectic and hustle city center, Snuggle cottage can be a perfect option. It is just 1km away. Snuggle cottage is only 2 rooms B&B located in a calm and quiet area with a nice view on Small Rawana waterfall. It is managed by a young lady Dulakshi, who lives with her sister and parents close by. If you arrive early or late, it may not be an issue, if Dulakshi is informed in advance. Laundry service is offered for 800LKR/kg. Breakfast is super! It is cooked by Dulakshi’s mother and has many options. I have got various options during my stay - milk rice (traditional for new year), egg hopper, rotti with coconut, small pancakes with banana, rolled pancakes with coconut and kithul syrup, butter and jam, tea… The breakfast is served on a terrace outside. Once I asked to arrange very early morning breakfast at 4 a.m. for my trip to Horton plains and it has been prepared for me (rotti, pancakes, banana and tea). Snuggle cottage is located very close to the railway road, so you don’t need to go to the Nine Arch bridge to take a photo of the train, you can just walk 100 meters and have a photo without many people. If Dulakshi has time, she can be a good companion for chatting. The cottage is clean, well maintained, has mosquito net and electric anti-mosquito plug-in device but it is better to have a spray as well.

We booked the family room and had everything we needed: 2 double beds, ensuite bathroom and shower, and a balcony with great views on Ella rock and the waterfalls. Dulakshi and her family are very friendly and attentive to their guests: great breakfast and great dinner prepared by her mother. They’ve also helped us with information and sorting out drivers for various activities we wanted to do. Very peaceful part of town, only 10 minutes walk away from Ella town centre. I would definitely recommend!

“A place that truly felt like home”

Great location, slightly away from the crazy buzz of Ella city, but still at a walking distance through the train tracks. The room has everything you need, very clean and well decorated and with a balcony facing the mountains and the waterfall. You can’t ask for more. The family does everything within their reach to help with everything you might need. They are super kind and really care after you. Our little one was unwell for a few days and they kept asking about her even after we left the house. Truly appreciated that. The breakfast and dinner are also super tasty and plentiful. We can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you so much.

“A lovely spot and private balcony view”

The host family was so sweet. They kept on asking when were we arriving so they could wait for us at the entrance of the property just to avoid tuk tuk driver missing it. The mother welcomed us with beautiful coffee, tea, fruits and biscuits and the daughter told us all the information we needed to know for the next day’s hike. The father gave us a ride to the railway station at dawn. Thank you! We really liked the location. A perfect 15mins walk to the village center (50 small steps from the cottage downhill and then just along the train trucks in the exotic Ella surrounding). Waking up every morning with a breathtaking balcony view facing Ella Rock and the distanced waterfall was a real treat (despite some part of the corner view was obstructed by the neighbors’ water tank - the view is still stunning!) Moreover, we enjoyed spending some peaceful times at the balcony at night, so quaint and surprisingly no mosquitoes at all!

“Wonderful !”

We spent 3 nights with our 2 kids ans everything was perfect ! This is the best guesthouse we booked during the 3 weeks we spent in Sri Lanka. We highly recommend it !The room is very clean with confortable beds and hot water. The view on the waterfall from the terrace is very nice. The location is perfect: very quiet and 10mn walk from Ella center via the railway. Access is easy. But most of all, the family is incredibly nice and do everything they can to make their hosts happy ;) we recommend as well breakfast and dinner which was delicious and enormous at a very good price ! ( we were there during the new year celebration and they shared with us the traditional foods they cooked for the family, it was the best experience we had in Sri Lanka in a guest house)

We had a great time here at snuggle cottage, a family of 2 adults and 2 kids of age 12. The host was very open, friendly and the whole family very warm-hearted. We booked breakfast and got every day a lot of different yummie food, just as we wanted. We loved it. The location had a great advantage. We was able to walk to Ella city within 10-15 minutes on the railroad. Saved some Tuktuk money.Would definitely come back.

I think this was the best homestay of our three-week trip to Sri Lanka! The location is perfect—just a 10-minute walk along the railway track to reach the city center. The view of the waterfall is so relaxing; we had a rainy day and honestly, we didn’t move at all, just stayed there enjoying the moment—it was pure bliss. Breakfast is amazing… and if you order dinner on-site, it’s absolutely delicious and HUGE. Honestly, one of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka. Don’t bother looking for a restaurant in town in the evening—eat here, it’s so much better! During the day, if you’re around, they’ll even offer you coffee… Honestly, don’t miss out on this homestay!

Dulakshi and her mother are wonderful hosts. Their breakfasts are the best we have had in Sri Lanka! The cottage is very comfortable and tidy and is an easy 10 minute walk along the railway tracks to Ella Village. A great stay and great value for money. I highly recommend Snuggle Cottage
