Silent Oasis was our favorite homestay in Sri Lanka! We loved the quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of central Ella, as well as the view of the jungle and tea fields. The family was so sweet and made the best breakfast we had on our travels. Also, the curry they made us for dinner was delicious! The bed was comfy and big, giving the room a hotel feel. They helped us arrange a Tuktuk and gave us great recommendations. It was also a perfect starting point for hiking Ella Rock. We also took a cooking class nearby at Honey Café, which we highly recommend. We would love to come back at some point!

This home stay was amazing. Great family. I ate there in the evenings and had breakfast too. The quality was amazing, all freshly cooked. I loved it all. The terrace is lovely, all you can hear are the birds and the monkeys…I really enjoyed my stay there and booked 2 extra nights.

The rooms were very clean and the hosts were extremely hospitable. The breakfast was excellent and the spread was great. The place is nestled in a beautiful location amidst nature. The hosts also arranged for tuks tuks whenever we needed them.

Waking up with a view to the jungle and sleeping only with the sounds of nature and with moneys visiting the terrace. So much value for money. And most of alle really sweet hosts that helped with everything.

Everything! The family was so lovely and very caring. Will 100% recommend it, as they made our stay a fantastic experience! They helped us to arrange a Tuk Tuk, and one of their friends showed us around the city for a couple of days.

It was a good stay. We loved the breakfast so much <3 However, we felt a little disconnected with the property owner. We had many questions but the owner mostly did not reply to the messages which made it really difficult for us to even find a water bottle, initially. His family is sweet and would try to help in their capacity.

Everything! The room was spacious and we had the most comfortable beds in Sri Lanka. The family are the sweetest and Amila went above and beyond to make our stay superspecial. Make sure you do the tour with him, especially if you want to see non-touristic amazing secret places. We are not fans of busy places and he took us to waterfalls and viewpoints where no-one was around, a truly memorable experience.

The location was really cool in the middle of the jungle and the beds were very comfortable! The owner was lovely and helpful and we had delicious breakfast.

“A home away from home”

This place really is an oasis away from all the chaos. We arrived to Ella with the train and very hectic traffic, so to arrive here was very soothing. It may be far for walking, but worth the tuktuk ride. Amila and his family went out of their way to make us feel at home. We each got sick for a day while here, and they made sure we had everything we needed, and even offered to take us to a doctor. We also spent christmas night with a delicious meal cooked for us. Also, the breakfast is AMAZING. Just get there and Amila will help you arrange the rest of your trip ❤️

The most delicious breakfasts during the entire stay in several locations on the island. Unforgettable views outside the window with jumping monkeys and dozens of other species of animals. Very helpful host !

Incredible host and beautiful location. All the food was absolutely great , and so much of it! Ten minutes drive to Ella town but nice and quiet in the evening. 10/10 Can even walk to Ella rock from the property.

Beautiful location in the hills of Ella, surrounded by nature and away from the hectic main town. You'll see so much wildlife...giant squirrels, monkeys, peacocks and deer. Takes about 15 minutes to get to Ella main town by scooter. Really friendly hosts and a fantastic breakfast. They even grow coffee right there on the estate and serve it with breakfast, Amila was kind enough to give me a small bag of the coffee to take with me. Would stay again for sure.

“Magical stay in the forest.”

Staying at Silent Oasis was one of the real highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. The room is wonderful, clean, comfortable and sat in the middle of the forest high up in the hills of Ella. There was a mosquito net over the bed. Great wifi. Ensuite shower room. Note that there are a number of steps to reach the room and in the dark you will need a torch. Outside the room there is a shared balcony area with chairs and table for breakfast. And boy oh boy is the breakfast good - locally sourced and home-made too. And of course you get to eat it in the forest watching all the wonderful wildlife and listening to the exotic bird calls. On our first evening our host arranged for us to eat the most amazing home-cooked rice and curry. Other nights we took a tuktuk ride into Ella to dine at one of the many bars / restaurants in town. Amila and his wonderful family are a delight. You will not meet friendlier, kinder, helpful people. He went above and beyond to help us organise and arrange trips and travel & just make our trip as wonderful as it could be. I send big thanks for a great stay. We long to return. Needless to say I thoroughly recommend Silent Oasis :)

Amila and his family are the most wonderful hosts. The property is set in a stunning location just outside Ella. It is spotlessly clean and comfortable with great wifi. there is a great deck to sit and watch the many monkeys and other wildlife. breakfast alone would justify the price elsewhere. i was able to rent his scooter for the few days and this is the best way to see the surrounding areas and access the many hiking trails. he was also able to secure me a seat in the 1st class train to Kandy.
