The owner was incredibly attentive and kind helping our every needs. I was sick and he brought me eggs on toast for dinner insisting that I don’t have to pay as well as an Ayurvedic tea which made me feel a lot better. The location is exceptional being immersed in nature and overlooking a gorgeous monastery in the mountains with wild fowls, deers, squirrels and a variety of birds around our villas. The rooms were very clean and the beds have been some of the most comfortable we have had in our time in Sri Lanka. To make the place even better the breakfast he cooked each morning is large and tasty with the choice of western or Sri Lankan meals with tea, coffee and fresh fruit. I could not recommend staying here enough and supporting this wonderful man!

One of the best stays I’ve ever had. Host was so lovely, served great breakfast and offered a fantastic tuk tuk service and scooter rental. Rooms were amazing, large comfortable beds, clean bathroom and hot showers, and the view from the balcony was fantastic.

“Beautiful cottage up in the mountains”

The cottage is off the beaten track, away from the busy main street of Ella, exactly what I wanted. The cottage has everything you need with the most stunning views, and is surrounded by lots of wildlife. Sapu the owner, was most helpful and chatty and made the most amazing breakfast. He had a map of the area showing how to get to Little Adam’s Peak and the Nine Arch Bridge which was so easy to follow. I just loved this place and hope to be back again in the near future.

We had a very nice stay at this place. Everything was extremely clean, the breakfast was delicious, and everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The view from the room was just amazing and so relaxing ! The location is 10m from Ella’s center so we booked a scooter at the hotel and it was very convenient. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Saffron Eco Cottage a lovely place to stay. The views were incredible, the rooms were very comfortable and we felt immersed in nature. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and provides a delicious breakfast. It was a short tuk tuk journey to Ella town and Ella rock trail, so an ideal location to enjoy the area if you want to avoid the noise of the town.

Sapu was an amazing host with plenty of information about the area and cooks a delicious breakfast! Amazing views and lots of wildlife at the cottage.

Cute Cottage at the outskirt of Ella with an amazing view. Big, clean and comfy bed. Perfect for everyone looking for a relatively quite place in the vicinity of Ella (less than 10min by Tuktuk). Very friendly and helpful host. Delicious breakfast.

The owner was so friendly and made an excellent breakfast - varied each day. If you need any help, ideas or direction, he is there and always interested in you. The views were superb at the cottage! There were deer and squirrels at breakfast. Room was spacious with balcony and comfortable beds. Would recommend!

We loved the tranquility and the views of the mountains from our balcony. The room was very spacious, exceptionally well maintained and clean. We love walking to explore new areas and enjoyed the walk into Ella town. Sanu made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. He was extremely helpful mapping out the best way for us to walk to local attractions, and cooked up a delicious breakfast each morning. On the occasions when we needed transport, Carvy (Sanu’s neighbour) drove us around in his Tuk Tuk. Carvy was a great and safe driver and quickly put me at ease navigating some very steep hills. I would highly recommend him!! Thanks for your hospitality Sanu. This was one of the most memorable parts of our holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here

There aren’t enough positive adjectives to describe how much we loved staying at Saffron Eco Cottage! Sapumal is a hugely caring, knowledgeable and attentive host. He prepares a delicious breakfast for his guests every morning and we loved our conversations with him about Sri Lanka. His beautiful property is 10 minutes from the centre of Ella in a perfectly secluded, serene spot (there are deer, beautiful birds and a stunning view of the mountains). It was very easy to get a tuk tuk down to the town and further afield, special thanks to our lovely drivers Kawi and Ami who helped us a lot throughout our stay. It’s a perfect, tranquil place and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you Sapumal!
