The Rose dale Guest Inn is truly a very beautiful homestay. The owners are incredibly nice and it has a very family-like atmosphere. It is well-located and you can actually reach everything quite easily on foot. The breakfast was amazing and they accommodated every special request I had. They helped me with every question I had and there was warm water and WiFi. They are creating a familial connection. The daughter took care of everything, communicating via WhatsApp and was always available for questions.

We had a wonderful stay here and would definitely give it 10/10. We stayed as three people in the four-person room, which was very spacious and comfortable, clean and nice. The best part was the peaceful atmosphere and the amazing view from the property. The location next to the train tracks was actually perfect. By walking along the tracks you can reach Ella Town in about 15 minutes. It’s a beautiful and easy walk without steep hills and a nice contrast to the busy and crowded town. Only a few trains pass each day. Breakfast was delicious and served to us at our table every morning. The host was incredibly kind and gave us helpful tips for the area. Overall, the whole family was very welcoming. One of the nicest accommodations we stayed in during our trip to Sri Lanka, we highly recommend it.

The views are incredibile’ the food cooked every morning by the family is some of the most tasty we ever had! They were soo polite and helpful with organizing tuk tuk and umbrellas for us when needed!

“Excellent”

Beautiful stay with a very nice view. 15min walk to the city center. The owners are very nice and polite. They took care of our laundry, made a very tasty breakfast for us & helped us with everything. It’s very clean, water is hot & bathroom is very big. Would have loved if we could stay more time.

The location was amazing! For us anyway! It’s quite exciting coming down the lane on a Tuk Tuk then the last 40m or so is along the railway line to the accommodation. The staff come and help carry your bags so it’s all super easy really. The view from the accommodation is amazing! So much wildlife around, birds, monkeys, giant squirrels and so much more! It is approximately 1km walk into the centre of Ella along the railway. It’s pretty busy and noisy in the town centre so nice to be a bit out of town. The breakfast here are amazing! I definitely ate way too much 😂 The lady who runs it is so helpful and her and her parents who run it are so friendly. I would definitely recommend staying here 😊

The location is amazing and so nice to be out of Ella town and living on the train tracks. The host family are so kind, attentive and super helpful with any questions. The breakfasts were also amazing! We had such a great time staying here and would definitely be back, especially as you get to wake up to the most amazing view.

The location is perfect in my opinion, by escaping the touristy town. You come out the door, turn left on the train tracks and you’re on a walking trail towards Ella rock view point, turn right and you’re in Ella within 10 mins.

We spent 2 nights at Rose Dale Guest Inn to visit Ella and surroundings. The location next to the rail track and the view you have from the balcony is very special. We absolutely loved our time here. The hosts were very kind, helped us with various tips for visits and prepared an excellent breakfast for us. Thank you for the great stay!

“A beautiful property overlooking the valley with the sweetest hosts - highly recommend”

It’s a beautiful property overlooking the valley with so much greenery, beautiful birds, peacocks and monkeys around. There are chairs on the deck where we spent most of our time looking out into the valley. The room is comfortable with good mattresses and a spacious bathroom. It is run by the sweetest Sri Lankan family. Dehami and her father took excellent care of us, helped carry our bags, and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. The breakfasts were fantastic with a variety of cut fruit, eggs, hoppers, coconut roti and sambol or dal. They also brought pastries, home made cake and cookies on Christmas and gifted us wine! With the level of cooking on display, I imagine dinner cooked by her Mum would also be amazing but we ate two meals at the Garden View restaurant 50 m away, which had some of the best food I’ve eaten in Sri Lanka. It’s a 25 min easy walk on the railway tracks down to town. Lovely to see the trains go by. I would love to come back and stay - Dehami and family were very kind.

Lovely stay and the hosts were so accommodating. The accomodation is a little outside Ella but easily accessible by walking the train tracks or the hosts happily arrange tuk tuks to and from the accomodation for you at a reasonable price. The views were very lovely and we r3ally enjoyed our stay.

This is an excellent place to stay. We really loved the family who runs it - they are incredibly kind, responsive, and genuinely wonderful people. The room itself was comfortable, clean, beautiful, and had amazing views, I actually liked it even more than in the photos. We were served a big and delicious breakfast, the hosts helped us call a tuk-tuk, also they allowed us to leave our luggage for a while after check-out. The apartment is located in the mountains and we absolutely loved this location. It’s a perfect starting point for the Ella Rock hike, quiet and cozy, with lovely views. The trains don’t cause any disturbance since they rarely pass, and getting to the town center by tuk-tuk is not a problem. We were even a bit sad that we had to continue our trip and couldn’t stay longer. Thank you!
