“Perfect”

We loved our stay in the nature woodland. The property is in such a peaceful location you can hear the waterfall and the birds chirping in the morning and evening. Chami and his wife are some of the nicest people we have met and couldn’t be more hospitable. Any questions we had about the area they were able to help, they also helped organise a scooter for the few days and our transport to the next locations in Sri Lanka. One of our favourite stays so far would definitely recommend

“Wonderful stay!”

The place was in a great location, just outside of the main part of Ella which meant it was very peaceful. The hosts helped us organise tuk tuks very easily and at great prices everyday, so it was no issue. The breakfast was delicious and we ate dinner one night which was equally wonderful. The hosts were fantastic and so friendly, we did a cooking class with them and we couldn’t recommend it more - 6 different curries with rice and roti, which were all great! Would highly recommend!

“MISLEADING”

We cancelled on sight caused hotel not suitable for 70+ years old. Ownner agree upon paying on sight the equivalent of $24cdn to cancel on line booking. THE BIG ISSUE:THE PICTURES ON THE WEB MISREPRESENT THE HOTEL PRÉMISSES, NARROW WITH STAIRS, SMALL DARK, ORDINARY ROOM, MORE FOR BACKPACKERS. HIS WIFE WAS AGGRESSIVE BECAUSE SHE KNEW THE ABOVE AND REFUSE TO LOOK AT THE WEBSITE PICTURES WITH US. PROVIDE ME SPECIFICS RESPONSE TO THESE OBSERVATIONS.

“Not worth it”

We had a very pleasant stay with Chami and his family. The room offered excellent value for money and was ideally located just outside of Ella, yet still very close. Accommodating and friendly, we highly recommend staying here.

If you want to experience Sri Lankan hospitality at its finest, this is the place to stay. Once you put your foot on the doorstep, you feel like being part of this wonderful family. Chamee and Nilu are fantastic hosts, always smiling with a warm and happy character. They have great advice for all sights to visit in and around Ella and can arrange transport. Nilu offers great cooking classes. We cooked an amazing range of curries, learnt about Sri Lankan cooking techniques and spicing. And the reason why the curries turned out to be the best we ate so far in Sri Lanka is not because we are incredible chefs but because of Nilu‘s delicious recipes that she shared with us. And also the included breakfast was always delicious. The place itself is just a few minutes away from Ella by tuktuk (perfect location to explore the area), surrounded by forest, with nice views on the hills, having monkeys as the occasional visitor (but no worries, the family‘s dog pays attention that they won‘t come too close) and many birds. The rooms are very clean with direct views into the surrounding green. We stayed here 3 nights with our daughter and all of us could have easily stayed longer. Can highly recommend this place!

We had the most beautiful stay. We were treated like family the entire time. Set in the mountains with an amazing view, big, clean comfy rooms, hot water, great breakfasts and the best cooking class! Not to mention tubby (resident pup) and Micky (cat) who love all the hugs and pats you can provide. You'll love your stay!

“Immersed in the nature”

Great location immersed in the mountains and nature. You can see monkeys from your room ! The cooking class was very collaborative and fun ! The family is really nice and helpful

“We simply loved it!”

We simply loved out stay at Nature Woodland. Obviously this is not a 5-star hotel, but if you are really looking for a true, authentic and personal local experience with a family that is so full of love and caring, we can only recommend this wonderful homestay! We felt so much at home and like we were part of the family. We had so much fun together when cooking (they offer a fantastic cooking class), playing games, petting the cute dog and cat. Our daughter (7 years) made friends with everyone and did not want to leave at all. We had our privacy in our very nice and big family room with very cozy beds (Incl. great mosquito nets) and a wonderful view.

“Beautiful home away from home”

Wonderful location with brilliant hosts. Chami and Nilu went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We also did a cooking class with Nilu which was great, learning how to make 6 curries!

“Perfect set up, great views, and great hosts an absolute pleasure”

Absolutely incredible views, with lovely spacious rooms and own little balcony to sit at and look over all the views, watching monkeys, and listening to nature. I really have to give the owners massive recognition - they went above and beyond for us making sure we are comfortable, helping us sort transport and giving us so many recommendations around Ella. Their hospitality won't be forgotten and if we were to return again someday to Ella we would definitely stay there again - it is just out of the Main Street but only a 5 minute drive which was perfect. Also their dog and cat are gorgeous - especially micky their cat she is just so lovely and friendly we loved her !! I forgot to mention the food they cooked was lovely ! Thanks for a great stay !!

“Amazing and will definitely come back again.”

Location is good and accessible via tuktuk and car also. View from the room is awesome. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Washrooms are clean and equipped well. Hot water is available. Hair dryer is also available. Owners are super friendly and supportive. They arranged tuktuk and cab for us in reasonable price. Breakfast was good and tasty. Overall it’s strongly recommendable.

A peaceful gem near Ella. Nature Woodland offers breathtaking views from the terrace and high-standard, clean rooms with modern bathrooms. What makes this place truly special is the hospitality; the hosts are so dedicated to their guests' comfort. We loved the abundant breakfasts and the company of their friendly pets. Highly recommend taking the cooking class with the hostess—it was a fantastic experience. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and see you soon again :)
