“Great comfortable room, amazing food, perfect location - 10/10”

Amazing location. Such a comfortable bed. Sunset was unreal. Our host was so friendly and helpful. He food was incredible - they even went the extra mile to make a curry for me that was not spicy so I could enjoy it. Cold beer when we arrived. Great facilitating the room with lots of thoughtful touches. One of the best places we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend this place!

“The simple view is real luxury”

The view from the room is incredible 😍 we woke up for the sunrise it was just breathtaking. The breakfast is really good, our host is really welcoming, and friendly. We loved the place, it is luxury to stay in the nature in Ella.

We loved the setting in the rice field, the view from the balcony was amazing. The owner was very friendly and attended to our needs. The room was simple but very clean.

The accommodation is simple but has all the basic things you need. Nice ceiling fan, good beds, big half outside shower with warm water. The view over the rice paddies and the farm is amazing! Close by you can walk to waterfalls. We couldn’t have dinner at the accommodation but Chana brought us to a restaurant of a friend where we got amazing food! We stayed for one night and had a great stay! Chana made us a great breakfast.

“The best place in Ella”

Excellent experience in this place! The room with the view and the bar where you have breakfast is a true paradise, you can really experience the relaxation and the magic of the surroundings, best decision to stay a little bit away from Ella (too crowded and touristic) Chamara and his family create the best atmosphere, the food is delicious and they are so chill and friendly. I 100% recommend this lovely location!

“Ecological vibe with great hosts”

Relaxing place in the woods with rice paddys literally next to your doorstep. You really feel that nature surrounds you with wildlife and beautiful scenery greeting you every morning. Fantastic host family who go the extra mile for their guests. They are still developing this place, and are very open to suggestions (love this!) Ella is a 25min ride away, and the local bus is a good alternative in daytime. Seems a bit exotic at first, but once you try it's cheap and functional.

Charma and his family were wonderful hosts who welcomed us with warmth and generosity, including a delicious dinner and a joyful family celebration for the Sri Lankan New Year. If you’re looking for an authentic, traditional Sri Lankan family experience—just 20 minutes from Ella, in a quiet area with incredible scenery—this is the perfect place. Highly recommended!

“Paradise”

The scenery is breathtaking and so peaceful. You can really slow down and watch daily life for the wonderful people up here, surrounded by nature. The food was incredible, fresh from the fields. Chama and his whole family are so friendly, you really feel welcomed into the family. He was so accommodating too, helped us do all the things we wanted to do. Can’t recommend this place enough.

“Surreal”

This was probably the nicest place we have ever stayed. The location is about 15-20 mins from Ella town but it's 100% worth it. The chalet is situated in the mountains overlooking the valleys and rice fields. It feels like a backdrop it's so surreal. The couple running it are wonderful and couldn't do more for us. They cooked their local homemade rice and curry dish for us using all their own produce and it was easily the best thing we have ever eaten. Cannot recommend enough!

“If you want to experience Sri Lanka, stay at Kingdom of Rustic Ella”

We visited Sri Lanka with my husband and his parents. This property absolutely exceeded our expectations. Even though it is slightly away from Ella town (which is in itself another reason to stay there), the accommodation is worth every penny as it is placed amongst rice paddy fields overlooking the surrounding hills and the service provided by Chama and his wife (the property hosts) was soo heart warming that I would choose it over a 5 star hotel any day. We were greeted by Chama who drove us up to our villa and through out our stay was happy to come pick us up from the bottom of the hill whenever we made a nearby trip into other towns. He has a lot of knowledge of the area and happily gave us plenty of tips including some hidden gems such as Ellawella Falls. Chama, along with his wife (Niluka) made us a tasty home cooked meal on the first evening for an additional cost that was so delicious that we decided to have all of our meals with them for the three days that we stayed there. They even walked us through their style of cooking on one of the nights. Chama is very attentive and it was very clear that he cares a lot for his guests to have the best possible experience during their stay. If your interest is something different from a commercialised/luxury hotel, with a lovely local host family, this is your place.

“Hidden Gem”

Place with an amazing view 20 minutes away (by car) from Ella Town. 2 beautiful waterfalls within walking distance. It’s warmer than in Ella and in general we found the weather much better (it is lower than Ella town). Bed is comfy with a huge duvet (so comfortable!). Warm water in the shower. THE BEST FOOD, that lady cooking is a true chef, it was the best local food we ate. Plus you can see them cooking in their authentic home. Host was always available, driving us around for a good price. I would stay again.

“Accommodation with the most amazing view and super nice owners”

This is an amazing place with the most beautiful view. The owners Chama and Niluka are the best. Always friendly and helpful! Niluka made an amazing curry for us using their local products growing on the property. It was raining when we came, but both of them made the stay very special. We had an amazing breakfast on the balcony every morning and enjoyed the peaceful and scenic view. Definitely recommend this place.

The two night stay at Kingdom of Rustic Ella was one of the best in our 23 day vacation in Sri Lanka. The owners of this place are very hospitable. At our first day we arrived in the afternoon and did not leave the place because of the nice view and the modern apartment. Second day we woke up with a beautiful sunrise and had a super delicious breakfast before we visited the near by waterfalls. You can go there by foot and for us it was easy to spend several hours at the waterfalls enjoying the nature and the sun. When we got back from our day trip we learned how to cook traditional Rice n Curry in the family's kitchen. It was very delicious. The family grows the ingredients in their garden. We highly recommend this very nice place. During our time we had a lot of peace and captured good memories.

Escaping the bustling tourist town of Ella, we found our perfect sanctuary in this charming chalet. Nestled amidst lush rice paddies and breathtaking mountain views, it was a tranquil escape. Chama, the host was incredibly welcoming and helpful every step of the way. Home-cooked Sri Lankan curry dinners were a delight. We can't recommend this hidden gem enough.

Absolutely beautiful location, outside of the touristy town of Ella. The accommodation was immaculate and so comfortable.We spent 3 nights here and the owners cooked dinner for us, which was the best Sri Lankan food we have had so far on our 2 week trip. Incredible view of stars and fireflies at night. Can highly recommend Kingdom of Rustic if you are looking for a quiet getaway in the mountains. Town and waterfalls all within short driving distance, owners are happy to provide transport if and when needed. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
