We chose this hotel on a friend's recommendation, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the very moment we arrived, everything was delightful – the warm welcome, the elegant atmosphere, and attention to every little detail. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated, but the real star was the surroundings. The nature here is absolutely fantastic – lush greenery, bright flowers, and breathtaking views. What we remembered most was the birdsong in the mornings – a true symphony of chirping, trills, and melodic voices. It was so pleasant to have breakfast outside while listening to those birds – it was real therapy for the soul. The staff were incredibly friendly and did everything to make us feel at home. Breakfasts were a real treat: fresh, varied, and very tasty. Honestly, every moment of our stay was wonderful – from check-in to check-out. If you're looking for a place that combines comfort, charm, stunning nature, and the sweetest birdsong – this is it. We're already planning to come back! We recommend it without the slightest hesitation.

“Paradise in the hills, the best breakfast, service and comfort. A must stay!”
Absolutely stunning location, a good 20 minutes from the centre of Ella but worth it for the peace and tranquility. Beautiful breakfast surrounded by wildlife and lush forest. Great accommodation, clean and comfortable and full of character.

“A wonderful team!”
We found Planters Bungalow to be a wonderful place. Very relaxed and extremely welcoming. They provided a tuk-tuk service to and from Ella which was really fantastic, the drivers were very professional and calm, on roads with traffic which we found quite overwhelming. Our room was very clean and spacious, with every comfort we could ask for. We sat watching fireflies from our balcony of an evening. One of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lank was our cookery course with Apul at Planters Bungalow. The entire kitchen team was so welcoming and inspiring allowing us to share their kitchen. We came out with a fantastic Sri Lankan curry selection and so much enthusiasm for Sri Lankan cuisine.

“If you want a relaxing stay with beautiful grounds and swimming pool Planter's Bungalow is the place”
The staff were very helpful in making our staff wonderful. The location was perfect; away from the city noise, but the restaurant made a great breakfast and dinner. They also provided an tuk-tuk with driver to drop us at a convenient location for our safari pick-up.

Beautiful hotel, out of the very busy Ella town. A calm peaceful oasis with stunning views over Ella Gap. We ate here both nights and the food was delicious.

“Amazing place…would love to come back”
The location of Planters bungalow is amazing..20 mins out of bustling Ella town . Overlooking tree tops , hills and forest . Monkeys , squirrels. Great pool to cool off after a day exploring .

Wonderful in facilities and staff. Our stay was magical. Special thanks to the two managers and the kind driver who picked us up from kandy and brought us to the hotel. Every aspect of our stay and the grounds and room were of the highest order. I will come back for a longer visit.

Planters is a beautiful and an idyllic place to stay, allowing you to relax and reset whilst still easy access to Ella and surrounding areas with the help of the hotel to arrange tuk tuks. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Breakfast is delicious. Our room was stunning.

Our stay at the hotel in Ella was wonderful. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The staff were very friendly and helpful, always ready to assist us with anything we needed, which made our stay even more comfortable. The airport transfer took around 7 hours. It was a long journey, but it was well organized and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was delicious — we really enjoyed the quality and variety of the dishes. The views around the hotel are absolutely stunning: beautiful mountains, lush greenery, and a very peaceful atmosphere. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily return again.
