Loved our stay here. We already miss Shalika and her family. They were great hosts. Very proactive and organised. The rooms were exactly as advertised, very clean and spacious, bathrooms were very clean too. Shalika was always ready to help us with anything that we wanted, be it arranging tuk tuks, helping us plan our safari to Yala, suggesting where in the city we could eat. They were also kind enough to open up their kitchen and let us cook there. Would totally reccommend staying here.

The value for money is excellent! The owner is very helpful and makes your stay feel like home. A huge plus is her help with booking tuk-tuks, as the house is a bit far from the center. The delicious breakfast with a view of the beautiful, green hills is unforgettable :)

“Scenic and Comfortable Stay”

Our stay at Ella Family House was an absolute delight. The views were truly spectacular, and the facilities were both comfortable and well maintained, making it easy to relax and enjoy the surroundings. One of the highlights was the breakfast, both Sri Lankan and Western options were offered, and everything was delicious and generously served. It was a wonderful way to start each day. The host was incredibly responsive, and communication throughout our stay was seamless, which made everything smooth and stress free. While the location is slightly away from the main town, it’s only a short drive in. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Ella!

Wow, wow, wow! If there is a room available here then you must book it! This is one of the greatest places we have ever stayed during years of travelling. Stay with Shalika and her wonderful family - they are the most welcoming and caring hosts who always go above and beyond for their guests. The room is fabulous (we had booked the family room). All the facilities are excellent and very clean. The beds are very comfortable and great air conditioning. There is a beautiful view of the mountains and the Monastery from the balcony. Shalika made us a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast every morning which was the best we have ever tasted - she is an excellent chef. We were also fortunate to have dinner cooked by her on our first night and this was absolutely excellent. The best Sri Lankan curry we have had during our stay. The property is located about 5 minutes drive from Ella centre or about a 25 minute walk. It is easy to arrange a tuk tuk to take you to and from the centre. This costs between 500-800 LKR per trip. Shalika was able to arrange this for us many times. Ella centre is busy and lovely but also a little bit loud. This property is the best as it provides peace and quiet so close to the centre. Shalika also helped to arrange taxi’s, driver’s and trips for us as we requested. Nothing was too much to ask of her. I cannot encourage you enough to stay here if you find yourself in Ella and you are fortunate that there is a room available for you. Book it now! Everything. The best place we stayed in hole of Sri Lanka. Beautiful location looking at the mountains and a beautiful tempel on the other side. Which is a must see around 6 pm. Our breakfast was wonderful, also the best we had in Sri Lanka. Sweet helpful host. Made a chocolate cake for my daughter because it was her birthday❤️it takes on 5 min in a tuk tuk to town. The town is noisy so being here was lovely and quiet. We had a brilliant terrace where we sat and looked at the beautiful nature all the time. The room also have a kettle and a fridge. So nice making tea and coffee and watch the nature around us.

The view was amazing and the host Shalika and her team were so welcoming and provided everything that we needed. Such a fantastic experience.

The family room was huge, and would be ideal for a large family or for 2 couples wanting a degree of privacy due to the internal (glass) door. The bathroom and shower were great, with good water pressure. We walked Stages 15 and 16 of the Pekoe Trail from here and Shalika was really helpful, providing a packed breakfast and organising Tuk Tuks to enable us to get out early and complete the walks before the rain started.

The hosts were amazing, very friendly and helpful. The room was super clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was massive and tasty. I was there with my sister for two nights and I would recommend this place to others as well. It's 15 mins away from the city which makes this place more appealing as it makes it peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was catered according to our needs.
