“Bad !!!!!”

If you want to stay in an upgraded hostel with a view, this is definitely a good place for you, but it is definitely not a place I would recommend staying. Let's start by saying that this is not a villa as it is described here, it is a simple hut equipped with three beds and other furniture items, crammed with rugs and old pictures. The toilet and shower cubicle (separated by a musty curtain) are less good than the ones I had in the military service. The cubicle is suffocating with the smell of mold and mildew and there is no way to ventilate it, so you have to leave the door connecting to the room open all the time, and then basically all the smells and humidity spread into the room itself. There were cockroaches, ants and spiders inside the room (there is nothing to do about this when it is on the ground floor overlooking the valley). At night, frogs and other animals croak and make noises outside the room. The access road to the hut is not paved with asphalt and was muddy throughout our stay. If you walk along it, expect mud and blood-sucking leeches that will stick to your feet. If you drive along it with a vehicle, keep in mind that there are rocks that hit the underside of the vehicle and cause damage (as happened to us, photos attached

The view from the balcony is spectacular. Hosts are lovely and accommodating.

This was such a lovely stay, in a place which felt like our own secluded haven, complete with stunning views over the Ella hills. It's about 40 mins walk along the train tracks to Ella or 10 mins in a tuk-tuk and we had four wonderful days in the area with this as our base. We enjoyed the breakfasts (particularly the coconut pancakes) sitting out looking at the view and were very comfortable in the cottage, which has lots of homely touches. You can tell a lot of love and care goes into the place. It feels very private and our hosts did an amazing job making us welcome and looking after us.

This place is a dream, it felt so calm and serene, incredible view and totally private, with great WiFi and a lovely host who could bring food and drink when needed. It’s a little further out and involved a scooter or grab to get there but it’s worth it for the setting.

Our stay at Ella Black Bridge View Cottage was unforgettable. The highlight was definitely the view — you can watch the train go over the bridge while sipping tea. The room was clean, with a very comfortable bed and hot shower. quiet at night. We loved having breakfast while watching the sunrise.” The breakfast was homemade and delicious. “What an awesome stay! Highlight of my time 3 plus week stay in Sri Lanka!”

Large clean comfortable space and large clean bathroom, with so many homey touches. The pictures are accurate. The view is amazing and so is the host. Great water pressure and hot! Peaceful, quiet, and private. There is a towel rack, lockable wardrobe cabinet and lockable drawers. Tv - never used. Nice pillows. Comfortable bed. Mosquito net - never needed. I sat out every night and had no issues with mosquitos. Fan - never used. Excellent WiFi. Host is always fast and easily reachable. Private porch and gardens are away from the hosts view. You have your own building. Host building is far enough away and they don’t have a view of the porch or inside. BEAUTIFUL, huge floor to ceiling window. Meals served on fine china with breath taking views. So relaxing. Fresh clean air!!! The mornings are warm and sunny, and the nights cool off for enjoyable evenings and sleeping. All around amazing stay and experience. I am so blessed to have had the chance to stay here. You can tell the host takes great pride in the way she keeps the cottage. Delicious breakfast (included in price) and dinner at very reasonable prices, much better than in town. It was nice to come back after a day of exploring and have a delicious meal prepared. She even did my laundry. Got it back same day washed/dried and ironed. Kindness most peaceful and gentle host with the warmest most welcoming smile. She spoils you and showers you with such gratitude!!! So welcoming and refreshing! She will even go into town for you, and get anything you need - just ask. Accommodating in every way. Too many good things to even list it all. I didn’t want to leave. After booking one night, I had to come back and stay 3 more nights for a total of 4. It’s just that relaxing. Host also graciously accommodated my last minute booking. I was in town and booked at 5:15 pm, and drove right over. The place was clean and ready. Blessings with gratitude. 🙏

This is our second visit to this recently opened cottage. It was easy to locate using Google Maps and has a secure, free parking area. It is a lovely place to relax and stay. Although we traveled as a couple, there were two comfortable large beds that could also accommodate a family. You can order delicious food from the cottage owner, who prepares it for you. The place is impeccably clean, giving you a sense of being at home. The owner is very kind and helpful, and the location offers beautiful scenery, with a view of the black bridge on the Kital Ella railway track.

“Hidden Mountain Gem”

This place is a hidden gem in the mountains for nature lovers away from busy Ella. There is a beautiful view, also on the famous train, very quiet and private. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The food is amazing. The cottage has two big comfy beds. Highly recommended. You need a car or take a tuktuk to come there.

Really nice private getaway if you want to have alone time. Amazing view and very nice hosts. They were helping with everything and super kind. Food was prepared for us and tea served. So it was truly nice experience!
