Excellent accommodation. You will be warmly welcomed and accommodated in a historic-style house where you will feel like you are in a castle. The authentic interior and the many original artifacts from past times were truly impressive — we loved it! The owner of the house, Gjon, deserves special recognition. He is exceptionally helpful and kind, and he will assist you even in unusual situations. We were traveling around Albania by bicycles, and only with Gjon’s help were we able to repair our broken bike. He bought the bicycle part for us and drove 120 km to deliver it to us! Stay at “CastleHouse” — you will not regret it!

The hause is an ancient hause placed in the heart of the old town of Elbasan just on the Roman historical road Egnatia. The accomodation is confortable and the owner very kind and available. The city center is just 2 minute of walk.

“Great house with tradition and history”

The Castle House was fabulous accommodation. All areas were spotlessly clean and there was a great lounge kitchen area to sit in and relax. There was a fridge freezer and washing machine also and the kitchen was well equipped. Gjon was the perfect host and had lots of ideas for places to visit and his home was also one which had been in the family for many years with lots of history. Great central location too.

“Lovely atmospheric stay in a well-restored historic house.”

Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay at Castle House. It is a wonderfully historic, sympathetically restored house within the old, Roman castle walls of Elbasan. Gjon, the host, speaks perfect English, has a great sense of humour and is clearly passionate about the history behind the house (which has remained in his family). He was helpful and kind, allowing us to arrange a much later checkout for 25 EUROs extra - this was really important for us as we were then able to enjoy a wonderful lunch within the city walls and have a leisurely departure onward to Tirana in the late afternoon. We had the whole house to ourselves - everything was clean and well-maintained. The location was perfect for us as, not only was it within the old city wall, it was also just a 10 minute stroll to the main bus stop/departure point. If ever you are visiting Elbasan (which isn't on every tourist's itinerary but is well worth a one night stop, especially for the food - we had our best meal of our Albanian adventure at a restaurant not too far from Gjon's place), Castle House is definitely worth your consideration.

Great house at great location! Elbasan had a pretty old city centre without a lot of tourism. The house is located in the historic centre and the host is a friendly guy.

The owner of the house is a kind and helpful man. We could reach him at any time. Location of the house is good. It is in the middle of Castle area. There are two parking places which are very close and 2 Euros per day. The house is a 2 flat house with two bathrooms. The furniture, towels and air conditioning are sufficient. Wifi connection in the house is perfect. There is a small garden in front of the door.

Beautiful, spacious, well equipped and super clean. Great location in the historic part of Elbasan and with a lovely courtyard. The blossom on the trees was quite something. Highly recommended!

“Incredible stay. you must try”

Exceptional property, The most beautiful and comfortable place I have ever been. It's just like home, I actually extended my stay longer than planned and wished to spend even more time. The location is perfect, close to the center and all shops are close by The host was kind, respectful, trustful, smiling and willing to help before and after. I forgot some valuable belongings in the house and he helped me recover my stuff even after leaving the country. I can't thank him enough.

The house is beautifully restored and in the middle of the castle area. It was very spacious and comfortable , especially since we had it to ourselves. We had everything we needed and the host was very helpful.

“The Emerald of Elbasan”

This was my SECOND stay here. I could have booked a different place, but can you really beat staying in a piece of history?? One of my favourite design choices is that the garden is kept green and fresh. The house is full of warm browns and brick reds, so going outside and seeing the bright green garden and its limes provides excellent contrast. Indeed, I often spent part of the afternoon sitting on a chair on the balcony in the Sun admiring the property with a good drink. The location is very convenient. A small walk and you get to meet fruit sellers! And you will love that to be sure. Come in summer, bring home figs, salad stuffings, and let any stress melt away. Ooh, and I must mention, the host! I've been to Tirana now and saw groups of people getting history tours. Guess what, Gjon knows so much local history and shares it freely! Generous and kind. If you come soon, he will be able to show you active archaeology. So, don't miss out, come now!

10/10. Best Internet, intriguing antiques, cosy location, wild lemons, and the best host! I'm English. If you are too, then get ready to see where all those supermarket foods come from. Markets are close by. Try fresh picked figs, olives, and whatever is seasonal. The photos are true! There are lemons and limes growing in your back garden in castle house! And it's as spacious as it looks. Enjoy!! (P.S. The neighbours are also friendly.)

“I love that place”

One of the most beautiful places I found on my trips. I will recommend to everybody. This charming house tells a story of ancient past combined with all modern comfort. I love the lemon trees :-)
