“Amazing hostel”

Staffs are amazing. Ruben was lovely and super helpful in organising transportation and activities. The hostel was super social, had such a great time playing games with everyone. Honestly one of the best stays in South America and perfectly located right on the beach

I had an amazing stay at The Humpback Turtle honestly one of the best hostel experiences I’ve had. I stayed in one of the huts up on the hill, and that place is something special. Waking up with a view over the Pacific coast, surrounded by jungle, is pure peace. If you want to disconnect and really unwind, this is it. The hostel itself is super well run. The rooms are clean, beds are refreshed multiple times a week, and everything is maintained to a high standard. The WiFi is also solid, which is not always a given in places like this. What really stood out was the people. Huge shoutout to Yenfa and Mimi in the kitchen – great food and always bringing good energy. Sandra keeps everything spotless (seriously, the bathrooms are always clean), and Patricia and Ruben at reception make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. They genuinely care about the guests. They also make you feel like you’re part of the local community, which brings you to places and experiences you normally wouldn’t find as a traveler. That made this stay truly special for me – one of the most memorable moments I’ve had in Colombia. There’s always something going on, the atmosphere is social but still relaxed, and the value for money is insane. Even the shared kitchen is cleaned up constantly , you never walk into a mess. I’m giving this place a solid 10/10. If you’re heading to El Valle and want a mix of nature, good vibes, and comfort just book it. You won’t regret it.

We stayed at the Humback Turtle Hostel for six days and really enjoyed it. The hostel’s location right on the beach is absolutely gorgeous, and you can order all your meals at the hostel, it tastes really good, or cook for yourself in the kitchen. There’s also always filtered water and tea available to drink whenever you like. We really liked the vibe at the hostel, and we felt very comfortable there, especially thanks to the very attentive care of Ruben, who was always happy to help with any problem.We’d be happy to come back any time

The location of this hotel is perfect, right on the beach. If you fly into Bahia solano, it is about 40 minutes by tuktuk to the hostel, price for us in March 2026 was 60,000cop. The village of El Valle is about a 30 minute walk along beach and little laneway.

It's a very nice place to relax in front of the ocean. The vibe is very personal so people are able to connect. The staff was very welcoming and super friendly. Ruben was caring for the needs of the guests of the hostel in his charming way. Hope to come back.

“Paradise”

Being in the middle where the jungle and the sea have met... there in a small place on the Colombian Pacific coast you can walk barefoot and immediately connect with Mother Earth... thanks Humpback Turtle.

“THIS HOSTEL IS EPIC!”

This hostel is amazing. I really regret not having discovered it from the beginning. I stayed fifteen days in the Valley, and before arriving at this hostel I stayed somewhere else where the service was terrible. People in the area recommended Humpback to me, and what a pleasant surprise it was! It’s a spectacular place. The staff make you feel welcome at all times; they help you with everything and turn your experience into something truly beautiful. You can tell the hostel is very well managed. In fact, the hostel manager is lovely and always attentive to your needs. The food is spectacular and delicious. Cleanliness is another aspect that really stands out, everything feels very clean and fresh. They offer a wide variety of tours, and the infrastructure of the place is impressive. You can clearly see the constant investment they make, as everything looks very well maintained. The beachfront location is fantastic; you can see the best sunsets in the entire area from this place. They also have a volleyball court on the beach, which they carefully maintain every day so it stays impeccable, a very modern guest kitchen in the middle of the jungle, and plenty of hammocks to relax in, chill music, and delicious micheladas. Without a doubt, I will be back very soon!

“Great place to relax, not the best to eat”

The location is great to relax, read in a hammock and enjoy the sea. We also enjoyed the tours. The town El Valle is about 20mins walk away.

“Chilled, nice hostel with good food”

Humpback Turtle is really nice, it is right on the beach, the common areas are really nice and everything is clean. The vibe is really chill and the staff so nice and helpful. But what I enjoyed most was the food, it was really delicious and traditional regional food.

Great location right at the beach but still within walking distance (25 min) from the village. You can also get a Tuktuk if you're too lazy. Staff & volunteers are very friendly, knowledgeable about the surroundings and stuff to do and always happy to help you out. I was lucky enough to meet plenty of nice people there that teamed up for activities such as jungle tours, whale watching, beachvolleyball or checking out the bar next door. The breakfast is pretty good and something different every day (was included in my reservation, not sure if thats valid for every booking though). My room (6 bed dorm) had ventilators (which I didn't really need, wasn't as hot as i had expected) and good mosquito-nets which were clean and seemed to be washed frequently.

Perfect location, great beach vibe, and amazing staff. Julián was a great host and very friendly and accomodating, Anni was a lovely receptionist, Eugenio kept the beach raked and clean for everybody and was full of knowledge about the wildlife in the area and Sandra kept everything tidy inside. The chef also did a good job. Geraldine and joe were also great. Best hostel ive stayed at for location and vibe created by the people.

“Colourful remote hostel, perfect stay in El Valle”

Amazing colourful hostel in amazing El Valle, in the perfect location at the end of the beach, close to a surf hut. Really difficult to get to from Nuqui but only a tuktuk from Bahia Solano. The wifi is limited but I think that's general to the town, not just the hostel. The staff were helpful with tours.
