“Quiet and easy going atmosphere…”

Breakfast was good. The entire facility was cleaned very well, the view to the lake was good, and the staff were very friendly. It has gate secure parking for both cars and motorcycles. Good access to Tikal ruins.

“Ok but need some improvements”

The hotel has a nice garden and lake view. There is no lake access though. But it easy to cross next door to go to the lake. The girls who work in the restaurant are really nice.

Great location on the lake. Lovely garden with hammocks to relax and view the wildlife. Very attentive staff and good food.

“Great place to stay for a few nights!”

Great place to stay for two nights, especially if you’re doing the sunrise tour to Tikal. The eating area outside with the Toucan Express Service was nice, the room was large with good A/C, and staff were helpful.

“Excellent quiet hotel with a fabulous garden”

Everything. The staff were very helpful and always with a smile. Our room was clean and quiet, and as a bonus, we could generally get WiFi, although this was stronger in the restaurant/reception area. The food was good value and good choices, including vegetarian options. The gardens were great to walk around in and the birds and bats that came to the feeders were a delight to watch. The hotel arranged our tour to Tikal and also a taxi to the airport. I would highly recommend this hotel as an alternative to the hustle and bustle of Flores.

Attentive and friendly staff Clean room comfy beds. A bench and table in the room with a hammock and rocking chair on the veranda. No fridge but free supply of chilled water from a dispenser a few steps away. Altogether a quaint, interesting hotel, really enjoyed our stay.  We enjoy the breakfast and dinner in the open air restaurant also with a lake view. Tasty and not overly expensive meals whilst watching lots of different birds on the feeders just feet away . Beautifully laid out garden with the ability to eat and drink on a terrace with a magnificent view of the lake built at the bottom serviced by a zip wire dumb waiter. One of the days we caught the 5:30 bus from outside Gardinier up on the main road (1 minute walk) the other day we walked down to the lake road to the nature reserve. Saw close too 3 groups of spider monkeys a beautiful pale billed woodpecker hard at work. A little toad hopping across the path and a couple of large blue winged butterflies. It was very hot and required more water than we took and don't go without a stout pair of boots/shoes. Quite a strenuous hike for oldies like us.  We feel if you are visiting Tikal this is a much better option than staying in Flores that we went on to stay at subsequently

“A top place to stay whilst on the lake”

The male receptionist is the soul of this place, he speaks perfect English and is a nice person to chat to with lots of useful info. The Mayan garden was very interesting with signs about the plants and Mayan culture. The rooms were big, clean and comfortable. The restaurant has excellent vegan options for the area.

“A hidden gem”

Huge garden which our kids loved running around and exploring in. Lots of other interesting things for them to see too. Lovely terrace with a view over the lake, with a great pulley contraption to order drinks from the restaurant! Lots of birds (although apparently many more at different times of year!) Room was cleaned daily. Delicious dragon fruit pie using dragon fruit from the garden!

Wonderful stay at Casa de Don David, they were so helpful with a Tikal sunrise tour, lunch boxes and our lost luggage. Amazing garden and super comfortable rooms with a very cozy restaurant. We loved it!

The staff were really great and the food in the restaurant was fresh, clean and delicious. The garden was gorgeous and the zip line for beers to the lakeside cabana was fun.

It was a wonderful stay, very calm, a nice garden, lots of nature around, directly next to the lake with a platform from which you can watch the sunset/sunrise. The shower is warm and the beds are comfortable. The hotel is directly located next to the street where you can take a collectivo/bus to Tikal, Yaxha, or the airport. From the airport it takes 30 mins with a collectivo/bus/taxi. The personal is very friendly and helped a lot regarding transportation question, organisation, etc. They also offer a laundry service. Rooms are cleaned daily. Special thank you to Marvel, who speaks English fluently and is always helping.

“BEST place to stay in El Remate and for visiting Tikal!”

Really fantastic place. Excellent value for money, very clean, air con and hot water worked well. The staff were really exceptional - super friendly and SO knowledgable and helpful about visiting Tikal etc. They even had coffee ready at 5:30am so I could have some before Tikal! The location near the main road is very handy for Tikal or other trips - much better than the other hotels I saw listed. This place doesn’t have its own swimming pier but you can swim at lots of different places, I just went to one of the more expensive hotels along the lake and bought a smoothie and used their jetty to swim.
