Just 3 km from Barcelona’s El Prat Airport, guests at Centre Esplai Albergue can reach the city centre in 40 minutes by bus and Metro. This hostel features an indoor swimming pool and accommodation with balconies. Set in a striking, colourful building, Centre Esplai Albergue has modern décor. Each air-conditioned room and dorm has Wi-Fi, and overlooks the hostel’s grounds. There are either shared or private bathroom facilities. Guests can enjoy a buffet breakfast in the Centre Esplai’s dining room, which is also open for lunch and dinner. Guests leaving earlier than 07:00 can pick up a free take-away breakfast. The Centre Esplai’s 24-hour reception can arrange bicycle hire and guided tours of Barcelona and the Llobregat Delta. Garraf Natural Park is less than 20 km from the hostel, while the beaches around Castelldefels can be reached in 15 minutes by car.

“Never again”
Our booking was confirmed for arrival on June 2 at 01:00 AM, and we have clear proof of this confirmation. Despite this, upon arrival at the hotel, we were refused entry. The staff behaved in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner, and we strongly felt that this treatment may have been influenced by the fact that we are foreigners. We were told that check-in was only possible at 14:00, which directly contradicts both our confirmed reservation details and the hotel’s public statements claiming 24/7 reception availability. Furthermore, the situation escalated to the point where staff threatened to call the police and ultimately forced us to leave the premises. As we were unable to reach Booking.com customer support at that time, we had no choice but to call the police ourselves. When the police arrived, we spent approximately 2 hours resolving the situation, only to be informed that this was a miscommunication between the hotel and Booking.com. The police suggested that we either: Stay overnight in the hotel lobby, or Remain outside on the street, which they explicitly warned was unsafe and posed a risk of theft of our belongings. Additionally, at the time of our arrival, the Booking.com application still showed that there was at least one room available at Centre Esplai Albergue, yet the staff insisted that there was no availability and refused to accommodate us. After all this I was still charged 216€ for the stay that I didin't even had.

It is a really big facility with different rooms, cafeteria for breakfast, pool and a restaurant to eat if you prefer to have dinner there. It is is also very close to a metro station that gives you direct access to the metro line to the aeroport and also connects well with the others metro lines in Barcelona. The breakfast is really good and have some great options as well in the restaurant.
