“Great stay”

Always a sad moment when you leave Sonia's a genuine family welcome in the hills. From the breakfast staff in the morning to Sonia in the evening there's always a friendly face to assist with your stay. The food is something else here with generous portions the order of the day. Also in the village is a shop, bar and pharmacist. It's a central place for a lot of hiking. For those that don't like hiring cars a bus service runs between the main towns and the airport. Thanks Sonia and team.

“Lovely hikers rest stop”

Lovely place. Breakfast was REALLY nice, and opened at 7.30, so nice if you want to start walking early. Dinner good too. There is a supermarket next door. Very conveniently placed along the GR131 route (lots of hikers).

superb situation for walking but most impressive was the fantastic hard working team running the hotel. Good mountain food in the restaurant and amazing amount of food on the breakfast table to make up a good packed lunch for the day ahead…..with foil wrap included.

I had to leave early, before breakfast. When the lady at the front desk realized this the night before, she prepared a breakfast package for me. A very nice gesture.

Very friendly staff, swift service, good value for money. A perfect stop location for a multiday hiking trip, in between San Sebastian and Vallehermoso. There is a supermarket next-door, ideal if you need to prepare a lunch for the next day.

Staff are so friendly and welcoming, breakfast is incredible , and rooms are comfortable. We chose to also eat the evening meal in their restaurant so we can say that thatt is great too.

“My third visit and it’s always a highlight”

One of my favourite hotels in the world! Authentic, amazing views, but the biggest plus is the staff. Just love the atmosphere in the bar throughout the day. Food delicious; breakfast huge (I think they expect to set you up for the day!). Relaxing on the square after a day’s walking is a must. I will be back! 😊

The restaurant at the hotel was very nice. The staff was very friendly and the food was spectacular. We went there both for breakfast and dinner.

“Hikers paradise”

We hiked the GR131 from San Sebastian to Chipude and after a long hike we were met by Sonia who was full of energy and friendliness. The room was clean and comfortable which is all we needed. We spent the evening in the bar/restaurant which had a good vibe and full of other hikers, the beer was cold and food lovely and hearty. We had the roast chicken and beef stew with pecan and apple pie for dessert. Great stay.

“Traditional hotel - great experience”

Hotel Sonia is one of a kind and what you get is a great experience. After a long day trekking we were so pleased to arrive and sit in the sunny square with a beer then coffee and delicious cake. The rooms could do with being updated but the shower was great and the food in the restaurant plentiful and very good value.

This is our 4th time staying in Hotel Sonia. We love the location as well as the friendly family who run the hotel serving home made dinners and a large breakfast which sets you up for a day's hiking. We will definitely return on our next trip to La Gomera and highly recommend this hotel. Thank you to everyone for making our visit so enjoyable.
