“A wonderful Zen experience away from the crowds”

We loved the place and would have stayed longer if we could. The staff were so friendly, kind and helpful. We really enjoy the sound of the river right next to the property and the beautiful surroundings. We woke up to go to the morning chanting session and also a Zazen in the afternoon. It was a really enlightening experience, and we managed to absorb the Zen atmosphere, bringing it home with us here. Highly recommended for those who wish to escape the crowds of the cities or urban areas. - Venusia

Incredible. The staff is simply wonderful, helpful, knowledgable and really so zen. The hotel is beautiful, super clean, the food is phenomenal and the facilities are 10/10 too: the shared onsen bath and the meditation room were a special addition to an already amazing stay. You can also arrange directly through the reception activities like sutra copying, zazen meditation at the temple as well as a morning visit to the ceremony of the temple. A unique experience overall, would absolutely visit again.

Everything: a beautiful peaceful location, gorgeous building, super friendly and helpful staff - and amazing food and onsen. The rooms are modern and extremely comfortable, and the chance to attend early morning prayers in the adjacent temple was something that was unforgettable.

Just a few minutes walk from the Eiheiji Buddhist Temple, one of the most important in Japan, the hotel offers unique and unforgettable chances to meditate with monks in the temple, and attend their morning service at 5 am, which was undoubtedly the highlight of a five-week trip to Japan. The hotel's facilities and food are superb and the staff exemplary. A fantastic place to stay.

“Perfect Eiheiji Ryokan Experience”

Staff are friendly, welcoming, speak English well and went above and beyond in their service. Location and building are very beautiful. Room is large for a couple, bathroom amenities were great. Dining was an amazing experience and they accommodated my tricky food issues and allergies.

The meals are of exceptional standard, the chefs are supervised by the head cook of the Eiheiji temple. The design of the hotel is very zen and beautiful.

The staff were incredibly kind, efficient and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. They even took me to tge post office to forward my luggage. English was spoken well by most of the staff. After weeks of struggling with vegetarian food the food here was superb.
