Authentic, French Chateau “shabby chic”, understated with a great sense of history. We were made to feel very welcome by Nicolas and the Navarro family.

It was such an amazing and unique stay. We loved absolutely everything - the chateau, the gardens around, the farm. And of course the lord of the manor, Nicolas, was very welcoming and patiently answered all our many questions about this historical place. Thank you!

We loved everything about the Maison du Chapelain! Beautiful, clean, and comfortable accommodation with plenty of kitchen/living space, fully equipped kitchen with everything you could need and a great toilet-to-guest ratio (3 toilets in total- 1 on each floor). The grounds of the chateau are absolutely stunning and the children loved exploring the huge gardens each morning and saying hello to the geese. The nearby town of Duclair is only a few minutes drive away and it has a large supermarket and various restaurants and bakeries to visit. The town also has a lovely little playground near the river for the little ones to enjoy. We visited with 3 children aged 4-6 and the accommodation/location was perfect for a family exploring the area. Nicolas and Dylan were friendly and very helpful and kept in touch with us before and during our stay to make sure everything was okay. We had a wonderful holiday and we were very sad to leave such a perfect place!

Wonderful place, the owner was really nice, polite and friendly. He really gives you good advices on where to go eating, what to visit and so on.

We like everything

Plenty of space in the house, well furnished and well equipped kitchen. Wood burning stove was great in the evenings, plenty of wood available. Grounds are brilliant for walking the dog and sitting outside for lunch.

We loved everything - the location (near Rouen and not far from Etretat, among other local beautiful spots), the gorgeously renovated property, the greenway at the back of the property, the well-thought out facilities, and the warm welcome.

This might be the most interesting place I have ever stayed...just stunning, from the decor to the grounds, everything was perfect! The host was super nice as well and even gave us a little tour of the Chateau just before we checked out. I highly recommend it!

“The best place i had a family vacation so far”

This was the best house we rented on our family trips so far, and I doubt if we'll find a better one than that. Nicolas and his family run this Castle themselves and you can see the result everywhere. Everything is so clean and fine-tuned, starting from the house itself (which is the very left part of the castle in the pictures you see, it wasn't clear at the beginning when I booked so I'm clarifying) which is very cozy, equipped, warm and inspired. The outside is unbelievable, feels like in the Hobbit's shire, with beautiful gardens, grass fields (kids and I played football and it was like being in a real football field, so big!), a private forest with a lot of interesting trees (chestnuts was the best as you can pick and put on the stove) and the best was the animals (the noisy Goose couple, the horses and donkeys that love apples and the royal dog Shelby, that coming with Nicolas sometimes to visit) which make the kids quite busy to feed and pet them. The area itself is very quiet, villages over villages during driving, each one is more beautiful than the other, Ducliar, the village next to the Castle is a great place to buy groceries and use the amazing, highly equipped kitchen to cook delicious meals for the family. The city Rouen is about half an hour from the property, quite a gray city but useful when u need something that not exists in Ducliar. There are a few horse riding farms in the area, we visited one (Pony Club Stables Du Genetey, https://goo.gl/maps/teDoDmLTbT7ebi3Q8) and the kids were super excited! We took a trip to Étretat to see those white beaches which are very inspiring and worth it, and the road to/from there was amazing, we stopped million times to enjoy the view and the endless green. (p.s. if you go there, try to make the trip from Le Havre direction and cross the Pont de Normandie bridge, quite an interesting experience :) )

This charming 3 bed Chapelain's house is attached to the Chateau du Tallis which has a wonderful history that the owner Nicolas will be keen to share with you. He is a wonderful host. The accommodation was superb, very tastefully arranged and every comfort provided for, recently refurbished to a very high standard. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped and a washing machine is there should you need it. The grounds are very pleasant and there are 2 horses, 3 donkeys and 2 geese to keep you company in the adjacent field. Nicolas' passion is the history of WW2 and he has built a super and very informative museum in the old barn which is open to the public. The town of Duclair is a 30 minute walk away via a pedestrian walkway if you want to stretch your legs and not drive. There are several nice restaurants, a bakers and plenty of other small shops and a free car ferry to cross the Seine.
