“Something different to remember”
A very special house with many beautiful stuff. It's like a museum, Harry Potter fans will love it. Michelle is a wonderful host who cooks during early morning hours a very rich breakfast which is served in the dining room. The rooms have good bathrooms, TV, AC and heating. It's a bit of an adventure. Parking on the street in front of the house. A short walk to downtown and to the Mississipi.

“Great place with friendly people.”
The attention to detail to preserve the building is awesome. They definitely put alot of time into having the many antiques and history. Very friendly food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this place. The outside is being restored when u see it your like uh. But once you open the door and go inside you will not be disappointed

“One of our all-time favourite stays in the US!”
Richards House delivered everything, and more, that we expected. We loved the classic warmth of the home with its fabulous decor and convenience to the city of Dubuque. The generous and tasty home cooked breakfast was most welcome together with the drinks (including alcoholic) and sweet treats that were there for the taking.

“A warm and inviting place to stay to enhance your visit to the Dubuque & Galena areas.”
We don't usually stay at Bed & Breakfast's but will definitely do so again. They offer a warm inviting experience and the history behind them is always fascinating. The owner of the home was very kind to share the history and point out many details of the home including intricate wood carvings and the working antique upright Zenith radios. We also enjoyed the surroundings and the variety of antiques throughout the home. One of the best things was the talking to other guests while sharing the outstanding breakfasts that were always delicious and different every morning.

“Took us back in time! And an amazing breakfast everyday. Michelle is amazing.”
Food was AMAZING. The small details they took into consideration are a great way to travel back in time. Michelle showed us some snacks they had available and the homemade cookies and coffee cake were out of this world!

The extent and level of construction was a surprise. I felt the "online" presence wasn't entirely accurate. I'm sure the owners are doing their best to bring things up. And I wish them luck. I'd consider the property again in a few years when things approach completion.

Don't let the exterior put you off. It looks like something out of an Alfred hitchcock movie but it was a cool place to stay. 10 minute walk to a few bars. 20 minutes to bus station. Rooms were large bed was comfy. You're never going to be here more than 2 nights because it's a nothing town in middle of nowhere so it's more than good enough for a 2 night stay.

Breakfast was amazing but too large for me and I felt I let the owners down by being unable to eat it all. Lots to choose from and the cooking was great
