“Noisy morning.”

I am giving the hotel a low rating because poor of a poor decision made by the front staff, not because of the general quality of the hotel. I was driving across the country and checked into the Garden Inn around or after midnight. I chose this hotel in Dubuque because it was a little away from the highway, hoping to get some good sleep and sleep in a bit before continuing my drive. Unfortunately, my room in one of the back corners of the hotel was in the perfect location to experience the demolition of a parking lot beginning at 5:00 AM that morning. I took a great photo to send to my wife of several men and heavy equipment right outside my room. I might have been able to ignore the noise, but was unable to ignore the room shuddering as the large equipment hammered away at the tarmac. When I left the hotel I stopped by the front desk to tell them about my experience and told them I wondered why the front staff overnight would chose to place a guest checking in around midnight in this location given that the hotel parking lot was only about 1/3 full at that time and there were probably available rooms in the front of the hotel, or at the other end of the hotel. The response I got was polite but I did not get the impression that the new staff understood my point, saw this as a learning experience for future reference, or was overly concerned with my displeasure. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable, the pillows and pillow selection was good, the shower and bathroom were good, as well, and it was an otherwise quiet hotel. Breakfast was not included so I did not eat there so I cannot comment on the quality of the food.

A few more breakfast options would be nice. Breakfast potatoes were dry.

“Great Stay”

Overall, this place was great it was clean, rooms were big clean, bed was comfort & friendliness. it's been a while since we been taken and overnight trip, was very satisfied.

We were not satisfied with your hotel and the service. The bathroom was way too small and not comfortable. The towels were very old. The breakfast was not acceptable. We ordered and paid for a full breakfast. There was no egg and no sausages. No fried potatoes. That was not a Hilton standard! Unacceptable!
