Enchanting little chateau with so many original features, exceptional hosts and great, quiet location. So much quaintness and authenticity. Also an excellent breakfast consisting exclusively of fresh, local products. One of the best places we have stayed in for a very long time!

The breakfast was great and included freshly squeezed orange juice and homemade bread. The host were considerate and checked what we would like for breakfast as we are vegetarians. Very interesting property and we were given a tour around. Amazing chapel and other rooms. It was full of character with several original features. A peaceful setting, but easy to find and helpful directions. Their donkeys were lovely too. The hosts very kindly offered to do and did some washing for us which is helpful when travelling. Good recommendation for eating in the evening next to the lake at The Weekend.

I love quirky, unusual places, particularly historic ones, and places that are not homogenous, modern and soulless. The Chateau du Donjon was exactly up our street. Really characterful, beautiful 700 year old house full of eccentricities and treasure. We were treated to a really generous breakfast with fresh juice, eggs and yogurt from the farm just next door, proper home made bread, lovely cheeses and ham with croissants, jam and pain au chocolate and got talking to the proprietor, who decided to take us on a tour of the place and tell us about the history. We were delighted that he took the time out for us, and we totally fell in love with the place. Lovely comfy bed, everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Go! It's not like anything else in the area.
