Everyone was very welcoming and made you feel like family. The place was very close to the beach and we enjoyed swimming every evening at sunset. We also had a very tasty red snapper meal at their restaurant which was very reasonable. On the day we had to leave early for our tour, we were able to have breakfast at 5am. We loved every minute. 🙂

Great little spot with friendly staff who could help with tours and provided a generous sized breakfast early in the morning (as needed). Lovely little garden and nice porch to sit out on. Easy two minute walk to the beach for pick up to Sirena station or to continue up the hiking trail to Cocalito. Confortable, clean, fridge and kettle much appreciated. Better than the pictures.

“Nice property, good food, pleasant people”

The property is at the edge of the small town, but there is not a huge amount in there to draw you in so we ended up eating at the property on 3 of our 4 evening and the food was always very good. Teresa was a lovely host and Derek looked after us very well in the evenings. We had two early morning starts to Corcovado and Cano Island and breakfast was made available before we left. On our last day they also made up a nice lunch that we took on the more local Drake Bay hike and enjoyed that on a perfect beach.

Loved my time here. Excellent staff, very helpful, and friendly. Location amazing. Birds and jungle life all around and right near the town and beach. And...THE BEST breakfasts. Amazing place. Stay here !

“Lovely stay in Casa el Tortugo”

We really enjoyed our stay, the room was comfortable and the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The location was great as we could walk along the beach to the Drake Bay centre, plus we saw lots of interesting birds by the little stream beside the hotel. Would definitely choose this hotel again.

Friendly, family feel and very close to nature. Convenient for seeing wild life all around and felt no need to go elsewhere for meals that were always of a good standard. Excellent service. Teresa was always helpful and her good English made it possible to have many good conversations.

The property is in a beautiful location by the river and close to the beach. You are able to spot amazing wildlife from the river area. The staff are amazing and they made sure we had transportation from the airport and back before our trip began. The breakfast is amazing and they even accommodated making breakfast at 5am for us as we had a Corcovado excursion. Really great place.

“Perfect stay”

We had a great stay. The room was cleaned every day and especially the bed was super comfortable and huge! All the people working there were very friendly and helpful. We could even borrow refillable bottles for the Corcovado Nationalpark :-) From our balcony we could spot a lot of wildlife like King Fishers, Crocodiles, Humming birds etc.

The property had a really lovely relaxed vibe. Theresa was an amazing host and was so helpful booking trips etc. and was always available via WhatsApp for support. The food at the adjacent restaurant was great. I ended up eating there every meal.

We could leave our luggage when going to Corcovado for an overnight hike, that was really great. They are very friendly and the restaurant is lovely!

The beautiful setting of the hotel, it looks over a small river surrounded with trees and birds. A/C was excellent, staff was lovely and helpful. Food was tasty, the hotel added to my love for Drake Bay. It’s quite charming but understated.

We loved the warm welcome we got from the kind family. The aircon is excellent, the room was spotlessly clean, close access to the beach, super safe and great help from the staff organising ferry back to sierpe. Thanks for such a lovely stay!

We had a really relaxing and comfortable stay here, we booked to stay one more night 😊 we felt so at home, the staff are so friendly and helpful. It was very clean, the rooms are cleaned every day. There is a great restaurant on site with a nice view over the river to the beach. The beach is one minute walk away and they pick you up from the boat if you arrive from Sierpe. We really loved it here and didn’t want to leave! Thank you to the staff of Casa El Tortugo 🥰

“The perfect place to stay!”

Everything was fantastic! The accommodation is in a beautiful setting with lots of wildlife around and about. It's a nice walk along the beach to the shops, bars and restaurants, but is far enough away that all you can hear from Casa el Tortugo is the sound of the jungle. Our room was clean and comfortable, the food at the restaurant is excellent and the staff (particularly Emi!) are super helpful! We stayed for 4 nights and REALLY didn't want to leave.

This was one of our favourite places that we stayed in Costa Rica! First of all, the location was absolutely amazing, only a 10 minute walk into the centre and a 5 minute walk to the beach. The hotel itself was so gorgeous! It is situated on the river mouth and you can see all kinds of wildlife (we even saw a baby crocodile crawling on the river floor on our first day). The staff were incredible, such lovely, warm, and friendly people. They really care about protecting the surrounding area and they really made our stay. They also had good recommendations for tours. Emi, the manager, organised a taxi to pick us up from the beach in Drake Bay to bring us to the hotel, and a taxi from the hotel back to the beach on our departure free of charge. The rooms were spacious and absolutely spotless, we had two big wooden chairs on our deck facing the river which was a lovely reading spot. Absolutely amazing place!
