Our third stay, as always there are lots of goodies left for you, my favourite is the chocolate cake. Lots of space in the room and great swimming pool. A couple of nice restaurants in the village, easy walk. You can even walk down to Almyrida, lovely beach, restaurants and bars. Probably take about 40mins.

“The dream came true / The best holiday in our lives!”

We stayed in the house with an entrance in front of the pool for one month. The price and quality proportion is just perfect! The apartment complex is in the Douliana village in the mountains, far from crowded busy streets, just a short car ride to nearby Kalyves or Almyrida with nice beaches, tavernas, markets and it is also possible to book sea trips in the little port of Kalyves (look online for Kalyves Cruises with Yanis and Nicko, they are very kind and entertainting!). There are also very nice taverns in Douliana, especially Helliostasi with very welcoming owner (ask for seafood mix and cocktail "Sex in the mountains" when you get there). There is also a very nive tavern just behind the corner (Ta Douliana Taverna). Their raki and moussaka is superb! When you don't feel like leaving apartmens and driving somewhere, you can also order pizza, pasta and other tasty dishes online with free delivery from Simon's in Kalyves here: https://simons.onlinefood.gr/ Apartmens are run by family, they all were very kind for us, complimented us few times with wine and pie, we have never met more kind and friendly owners before! There were always free sunbeds near the pool which is of perfect depth from 60 to 170 cm and is always kept very clean as well as the apartments and environment.. Every apartment has a separate terrace which are perfect for evening relaxation. As we have visited Crete multiple times before and never had such mesmerizing stay, we can trully recommend Douliana and these apartments for those, who want to experience real Cretan hospitality. You will meet a lot of wonderful locals there and get to know them in the best possible way. Biggest thanks Iliopetra for having us on our honeymoon and we will be definitely comming back!

Lovely spacious room, Aircon was fantastic. We were left orange juice, milk, water, bread and local honey and jam. Pool is a good size. Village itself has 3 taverna/restaurant. Everyone helpful and friendly. Great base, lots of villages and beaches a short drive away. Roads are good (locals are entertaining behind the wheel) Will stay again, it's just so relaxing. Life is slower here, enjoy

“Quiet apartment with a lovely pool.”

Iliopetra is a group of studios around a lovely pool in the rural village of Douliana. We were the only guests for the first part of our stay so were lucky enough to have the pool to ourselves. The owner welcomed us with supplies for breakfast and slices of cake. She keeps the whole complex immaculate including the attractive gardens. The taverna next door was a good place to eat as was the other taverna in the village. We had a very quiet and relaxed week and thought the place was great.

The place of the Iliopetra apartments is very peaceful. Beautiful garden around the apartments. Very comfortable to have terraces on both sides of the apartment. Everything is clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful.

We had the whole bungalow-studio. There is everything you need - double bed, fridge, oven, bathroom, small terrace. Room cleaning was quite often, every 3 days. There is washing machine in common use, so I washed clothes 2 times during my stay, very convinient. Douliana is a small village with a lot of villas and few taverns. The tavern was literally above our bungalow, good prices, big portions and very tasty food. Overall VERY greek place!

We were for the third time in the beautiful Heliopetra apartments in a very green and well-kept garden with olive trees and pomegranate trees among others. The pool is very well maintained and always crystal clear. The apartments are large and all have their own small terrace. The owner is super nice and cares about the well-being of her guests. On arrival you get some cake, juice, milk and other stuff for breakfast. The price-performance ratio is exceptional. In the village itself there are two taverns, both of which are highly recommended. One of them is directly adjacent to the apartments and you are there virtually in less than a minute. The ocean can be reached by car in 15 minutes. The next village by the sea, Kalyves, is very nice, as it is a healthy mixture of locals and some tourism. Sun beds are available for free if you consume. At the western end of the village there is a good breakfast cafe namely Café Cactus. Both Chania and Rethymno are easy to reach by car and always worth a trip. In summary: Excellent place to stay if you want to enjoy the somewhat quieter Cretan lifestyle to the fullest.

The hosts are very nice and helpful, the rooms are large and clean and the environment is very peaceful in the outskirts of the village. Th swimming pool is definitely appreciated in summer. A plus is the contiguous tavern, where you'll be warmly welcomed before enjoying good and affordable Greek food.
