The place is amazing, in the middle of the forest where you can really feel part of nature. Obviously you need to consider what your expectations are, it might not be the right choice for everyone, but it definitely was for me!!

“Perfect immersion in nature”
Location is amazing , this jungle is free from thorny or stinging plants, and had very few mosquito, as the ground is steep there isn't much standing water . Great trails , birds, monkeys and at night you can see the Fer de Lance snake. Choice of bunk beds under a roof , or a terrace of cabins unconventionally with only 3 walls. The Lodge works well with a good mix of people who put being in nature above tourist facilities .

It is exactly as described: The luxury consists in being close to nature and living in simplicity. It was amazing for me to spend a night directly in the forest next to Corcovado. I heard howler monkeys for the first time in my life! And the sunrise from Bolita lodge was amazing. The paths are very well maintained and easily to find. You cannot get lost and if you pay attention to where to place your steps it is really safe. I was wandering around all by myself. The only thing I highly recommend is to make sure that you know what the fer de lance or Terciopelo snake looks like. It is dangerous to step on it and I saw one next to the waterfalls. They usually won't be on the tracks directly. So if you go to the waterfalls, make sure to watch out for this snake and inform yourself about it first.

“Highly recommend if you like wildlife and nature.”
Everything was perfect, the fact that you sleep in a comfortable bed in a jungle and wake up to howling monkey sounds, see the sunset from the deck, and the well maintained trails.

Located in the middle of the exuberant jungle ! Surrounded by nature, the sound of jungle silence accompanies you with the birds, cicadas, frogs and monkeys. It's just paradise. Love to wake up early morning and be directly in nature. Loads of trails that lead to beautiful waterfalls. Just loved it

“Wild. Lush. Tropical. Good vibes! I can recommend wholeheartedly!”
What an incredible place to stay! It’s a hostel right in the middle of the jungle - even the walk there (20-30 minutes) is special. There’s a lot of volunteers helping out here anf they truly make this place special. It’s clear they all love working there and what can I say: if I had more time I’d love to stay longer too! We were upgraded to a super lovely double room in which we fell asleep to the sound of monkeys anf hummingbirds flying by. Everyone is super helpful and there’s a lot of private trails to explore so I can wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who’s up for an adventure :) Ps: this hostel is nudist friendly so if you do feel uncomfortable with seeing nakedness then this place might not be for you. I’d like to add, however, that this place never felt uncomfortable in any way. People are pretty relaxed whether you’re (half-) naked or not and vice versa.

A realy special place in the middle of the rainforest. Well maintained trails with some gorgeous views. If you have the time and fitness, be sure to do the river walk. I saw a lot of animals during my stay. Make sure you bring sufficient food for your stay. Oil, salt and sugar and drinking water are provided. For a few dollar you can get a meal of rice and beans.

“Very good decision to go there, but only if you’re okay with a simple life style”
Bolita is a very unique place. You’ll find yourself surrounded by Costa Rica’s nicest nature.

“Feels like the original if rustic paradise”
While at Bolita, I expected Adam and Eve to step forward from behind a tree any time as it truly was paradise! The hostel allows you to stay in the middle of the jungle - in the buff, if you dare! - and to explore the jungle on your own on the property's expansive private trail system. The trails are really well maintained (unless there was a recent tree fall, in which case you may have to find a way around) and very well sign-posted - it's impossible to get lost. With 15 km in total and multiple loops, you would need at least 2-3 days to explore all of them leisurely. The hostel itself is rustic and shows its age yet still comfortable. The showers and toilets are excellent and the kitchen is fully functional with running water and multiple gas stoves; the staff maintained them meticulously clean. The hostel provides rubber boots in many sizes in case paths become muddy during the rainy season. The mattresses were good, the linen fresh and modern, and the mosquito net worked perfectly (and anyhow I barely saw any mosquito). I rarely felt that submerged in nature - and given how hot and humid the jungle is, it felt really liberating to be able to take one's clothes off...

“Outstanding wildlife in paradise with great accommodation .”
Bolita is an absolute slice of paradise !!! Ron the owner and the staff are friendly, helpful and really want you to be as comfortable as possible. If you want to see wildlife , then this is the place to visit. The well signed trails are great some leading to waterfalls and to unbelievable views over breathtaking landscapes. The rooms are simple but effective in immersing you into nature.

Amazing location, truly unique experience (although I would still recommend doing a corcovado tour - the hikes are great - but of course you do not see as much as on a specific tour). However, you cannot be afraid of Spiders/Snakes/Insects or other Animals

“Bolita is a unique and amazing place!”
We stayed for over a week and saw an incredible amount of wildlife. Every day we saw something different and amazing whether it was monkeys, a sloth, invertebrates, birds (including toucans, swallow tailed kites, hummingbirds, trogons, woodpeckers, parrots, puffbirds, cuckoos), snakes, frogs. Ron, Val and the team do a really great job of maintaining the hostel and the trails. For such a remote location right in the middle of the rainforest the hostel is extremely well equipped including the kitchen, it looks picturesque, and is comfortable. I highly recommend staying here if you want to be truly immersed in nature and see a lot of wildlife.

“Nice jungle stay with a pleasant vibe. Listen to monkeys and toucans during breakfast.”
The surrounding forest with great (well marked) hiking trails into the jungle. There are rubber boots up to european size 44, which may be too small. We almost stumbled upon a dangerous snake and highly advise the use of rubber boots.
