“Little oasis in the jungle”

My favorite hostel in South America! And that’s after traveling in SA for 7 months. This place is so peaceful and I would love to return. Booked two nights and extended twice. The dorm is incredible and definitely the most beautiful I’ve seen. From your dorm bed, you can watch the jungle. The kitchen is great. Super clean, plenty of plates, pans, etc. You cook while looking out at the jungle. I attended a yoga class and a cocktail master class. Can definitely recommend the master class. We tasted all sorts of different liquors and made our own drinks. There is a nice social atmosphere and it’s easy to be a solo traveler here. There’s only capacity for around 20 guests (and we were max around 10 when I was there) meaning you quickly get to know everybody. You can buy a lovely breakfast; buy groceries in the little hostel store; and order takeaway for lunch/dinner. While it’s possible to buy groceries at the hostel and in the nearby town, I would recommend shopping in Santa Marta before going to get a better selection.

“Best stay in Colombia!”

WOW! What a place! we stayed for Christmas and it was the perfect place to spend Christmas as a backpacker. The facilities were so nicely finished, the beds super comfortable and everything very clean. The hosts were so friendly and accommodating made to feel like we were all part of the family. The view from both the dorm and the common spaces was amazing and such a variety of cool wildlife, from beautiful birds, monkeys, butterflies. Plenty of different hangout spots and a really nice social vibe. Totally relaxing bliss, close to tayrona, and even possible to go party at el Rio if you want to and come back to sleep in the relaxed setting. Stay here, you won’t regret it!

Amazing place!! A really tranquil place to work and relax for a few days. Arguably the nicest dorm room I’ve ever seen!!! And I’ve seen A LOT! Staff were all very friendly and helpful! Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again

“A slice of paradise on the Carribbean coast”

Waking up to a myriad of colours and birdsongs every morning (which you can see without even leaving your bed), followed by yoga and a drawn-out breakfast identifying the birds stopping by to enjoy a banana, hopping on the coastal bus at the bottom of the hill to explore the local beaches and waterfalls, cooking dinner in the communal open air kitchen, games at the bar with delicious cocktails.

The Fort Hostel is easily one of the nicest hostels that we have stayed at in Colombia. As other reviewers have commented, a lot of thought has gone into it by the owners and in quite a few respects it does feel more like a hotel than a hostel. The location is amazing, nestled high up on a hilltop, so you have amazing views of the sea (from both the dorm and the main living areas), and you are surrounded by nature. The hostel only has around 25 guests at any time so it feels very private and very relaxed, which was exactly what we needed. If you want a party for the evening the Rio Hostel is only a short bus journey away, and then you can return back to peaceful paradise. The included breakfast was nice, and the well-stocked bar was great. We enjoyed a few cocktails, which were all delicious. The staff are also all extremely friendly and helpful. It feels more like a little family than a business. We couldn’t speak more highly of the place to be honest.

After a short and steep walk you arrive the hostel. The hostel is in the middle of the jungle. You have a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea. The team is very friendly and helpful.

The open dorms to fall asleep with jungle sounds, the staff was so lovely and helpful, felt like home immediately. Highly recommend everyone to stay here!

“Literally perfect.”

The Fort is beautifully designed with such thought. It’s integrated into the natural surroundings and also has lovely little comforts for a traveller to enjoy - personal fans, mosquito nets, double or single beds in the dorms, THE BEST kitchen out of any hostel potentially ever and a little store in reception where you can buy dry goods and even fresh veggies. It’s the perfect space to relax and zen out - maybe treating yourself to a couple of brilliant cocktails too. If you do feel inclined to do some adventures, it’s really easy to do day trips to surrounding spots from the hostel using the coastal bus service. Bonus points for the effort made to set up a screen to watch the Rugby World Cup final on our last day - thanks team! We loved it here and hope to return one day soon!

Amazing stay at the Fort. The facilities are amazing with a fully equiped kitchen and a nice bar. The rooms are really clean and cosy !

Impeccable space wonderful energy of both the hosts and the guests, which is credit to Dani and Guillaume vision. Will be back when I return to the North!
