Host is amazing, helpful, welcoming! Surroundings are beautiful- what you see on the pictures doesn’t give you the full view, its just breathtaking! The place is clean, communication with Oton is great, wine is perfect! Highly recommended for chill out and relax and also to learn something about wines.

“Magic and very special experience: especially for wine lovers!”

We had a magic and very special stay at Oton’s. He shared his passion for wine with us, being very generous with his time. The view from the accommodation is breathtaking. Oton was very helpful with everything we needed (use of washing machine, picking us up nearby, providing us with hiking map and restaurants recommendations). The accommodation is also very good value for money in comparison with other places in Slovenia. Our only regret is that we could not buy more of his fantastic wines because of lack of space in our luggages. We hope we will be back and warmly recommend this experience!!!

The host, Oton, was one of the kindest people we have ever had the pleasure of staying with. Not only was it easy to arrange anything to do with the arrival and the apartment, he was beyond welcoming and we spent a lovely evening learning about his wine, the region, sharing personal anecdotes and talking about life in general. You come to brda for nature, for the food and the wine, but you stay and keep coming back for the people who create this magic. The apartment is also lovely. We were 4 friends and were beyond comfortable. It is furnished in an elegant and modern way, it has a kitchenette, a lovely bathroom and the hosts are quick to reply to any requests (extra toilet paper, extra dish towels,…). We will be back!

I'm so lucky that I stayed at Oton's apartment during my visit to the Brda wine region. The apartment itself is great. It has a good amount of space, with comfortable bedding and huge terrace with an epic view overlooking a valley full of vines. The best part of the place, however was the generous hospitality by Oton. He's a passionate and creative winemaker. He welcomed me when I arrived by opening a bottle of the wine he produces and chatting about the region. The next night I brought some steaks that we grilled with his friends who kept showing up. We did a tasting of his wines together which were really interesting and a great reminder of what a unique region Brda is. Oton is well known among winemakers in the region for his hospitality and openness. During my visits to wineries, whenever I mentioned I was staying with Oton I got a knowing smile, often followed by stories of long nights sharing wines at Oton's home. The location of the aparment is perfect for exploring the region's best wineries, most of which are a few minutes away by car. I'm definitely planning to return soon. Brda is one of the most exciting wine regions I've ever visited and the winemaking community there is incredibly welcoming.

Normally I don’t write any reviews, not for booking, any other hotel/b&b/etc. visits or any other reviews for that matter. But the visit at Winehouse Oton Reya (which is actually the name of the winemaker) was so special that it would feel wrong not to write a review. We’ve been visiting Slovenia with a group of four people; my best friend, his girlfriend, my fiancé and myself. One of our latest visits was Winehouse Oton Reya, which is located very close to Smartno. Once we arrived we could at first not find anybody at the appartment. A few minutes later we heard voices coming from downstairs. That is where I met Oton. Oton was busy with mashing the grapes, the first step in wine making, after harvesting the grapes of course. During our visit (mid September) it was time to harvest and process the grapes for wine production. Oton showed us his wonderful appartment with two spacious two person beds, one on the first floor and the second on the second floor, accessible via a designer stairs. Besides the nice bedrooms the appartment also has a big open shower, which was the first we’ve seen so far during our trip. After the tour Oton said he would be back for check in in 30 minutes so he could finish processing of the grapes first. Half an hour later we did the check-in and for the remainder of the night we sat outside on the porch with a fantastic view on the vineyards down on the valley. The next morning I’ve asked Oton if it was ok if I could help him with his work on the vineyard. After a short moment of doubt he said sure why not. Oton, myself, his workers and a neighbouring friend (Timon, owner of Vila Eva Olive Oil) jumped on the tractor and drove to the vineyards for harvesting the Rebula grapes. Oton teached me what good and bad (sour/mouldy) grapes look like so I knew how to properly harvest and collect the good grapes.

“Relaxing place in wine area”

Super Friendly owner, Beautiful terrace looking over the valley, quiet and comfortable (has airconditioning if you nee it) and nice wines. At arrival a complementary bottle of wine was already in the fridge. Had a tasting of all wines afterwards which was great. Nearby neighbour further has excellent olive oil.

Great views and an amazing host. This is not a place for influencers looking for the perfect instagram shot, this is a place for people who like to talk about wine and life. Oton is an excellent host, even during the busy harvest time he took time for a wine tasting and to give plenty of tips for riding my bike. He also let my girlfriend use one of his bikes. Of course we had to leave with several bottles of wine (try the Orangoton !)
