“The best house and best host”

We stayed just for a night and we regret not staying longer. The owners were great, Rosica prepared a great dinner and breakfast for us, their tomatoes were the best ever, all fresh food, and we had nice conversation with her even if she didn't know english, we just used Google translator and she was very keen to communicate. She also gave us lots of recommendations for places to see. It was great and definitely we would love to come back. The house is very beautiful and the garden is very well kept. It felt like at home

Rosita and Nikolov are absolutely charming hosts. If you don't speak Serbian, make sure you have a translation app so good conversation can accompany the good wine and great food - best trout we have ever had!

After a gruelling bicycle ascent from Dimitrovgrad, I was greeted by Doncho, a friendly neighbour who seemed to be anticipating my arrival. My hosts, noticing my fatigue, immediately offered me refreshing drinks. The property, adorned with a large, lush garden, consists of three buildings that exude the spirit of Balkan mountain heritage. The main house, over 140 years old, is a splendid example of traditional Balkan mountain architecture, with wooden beams, stone walls, and rustic furnishings that transport visitors back in time. The old barn has been thoughtfully converted into a quaint restaurant, also decorated in a traditional style, featuring handcrafted wooden furniture, embroidered textiles, and intricate metalwork. A third building, still under construction, promises modern guest accommodations while maintaining a respectful nod to the traditional aesthetics. My hosts were exceptionally warm and generous, ensuring I felt at home before departing for their residence in Dimitrovgrad. They entrusted me with the keys to the house and offered a hot meal, which I politely declined due to my exhaustion, opting instead for a shower and rest. Perfectly situated at a high point along the EuroVelo 13, Ethno House "Nikolov" offers breathtaking views, scenic hiking trails, a waterfall, and a canyon, making it an ideal base for adventurers seeking to immerse themselves in nature and local culture. I wholeheartedly recommend this serene and welcoming sanctuary to cyclists, hikers, and all travellers in search of authentic Balkan mountain hospitality.
