“The most amazing place to stay in the Sri Lanka countryside”

Everything was amazing. The best views we saw in Sri Lanka, very peaceful and felt like a private villa. Food is incredible and the staff are perfect, always on hand but also aware of privacy. We sat on the veranda for hours with Tea looking out at the views. Room was huge and had the most amazing view. Stay for views, food and living in luxury

I loved this place. We spent 6 nights there whilst waiting for our delayed flight home. So comfortable and with amazing views from the veranda. The owners and staff were so friendly and helpful. Food and drink were plentiful and tasty. Convenient for walks in the tea plantations.

We liked everything. The view from the verandah was exceptional. Enjoyed the bird watching, spice garden, early morning swim, late morning walk around the tea plantations. We went on two fabulous curated walks with instructions that were easy to follow. First day 3 hours, second for 1.5hr leaving us ample reading time for the afternoon. This place is 100% a haven of calm, a retreat. We stayed four nights and the guests that were there at the same time all regretted not staying longer having both booked in for 3. The food was beyond and above delicious and far too generous in helping, fruit juices and lassis were fresh and delicious. Sundowners - not to be missed. Staff couldn’t be friendlier and more helpful. A fabulous experience we can highly recommend.

Rangala House was our first stop in Sri Lanka and it completely set the bar for the rest of our trip. The views are absolutely breathtaking, with rolling green hills, tea plantations and endless mountain scenery in every direction. From the moment we arrived, Anthony was so warm and welcoming, and we felt incredibly well looked after by Sam and the whole Rangala team. Everyone was kind, attentive and genuine, and they made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Our room was spotless, bright and beautifully kept, with a view that made us stop and stare every time we walked in. Everything was clean and comfortable, and it was clear how much care goes into keeping the house and gardens so well maintained. The food was exceptional. Every meal was freshly prepared, full of flavour and beautifully cooked. We looked forward to every dish and loved sitting down to eat while enjoying the view across the mountains. We also loved exploring the area around Rangala House. Anthony gave us simple directions for some amazing walks that took us over the hills and through tea picking fields with the most incredible views. It was the perfect way to take in the beauty and calm of the countryside. Rangala House is a truly special place that combines stunning scenery, wonderful food and the warmest hospitality. We could not have asked for a better start to our trip and will be recommending it to everyone we know.

What an amazing property in a non touristy beautiful area with an amazing view!! You are welcomed and looked after from the second you arrive from Anthony and all the lovely staff. There are only 5 rooms so it feels personal and homely. We did a great walk in the area the house shared and LOVED all the delicious meals we had there!

Beautiful location, the views are outstanding. Rangala House feels like home, not a hotel. All the staff are very attentive, kind and considerate. I had the place to myself, along with Anthony, the lovely owner, due to cancellations following the cyclone. He is very engaging and we shared some deep conversations over dinner. The guide Niro (now known as Niro the hero!) and I hiked The Knuckles, we were the first to summit following the cyclone. It was cloudy and rainy but an excellent hike. We saw some fauna and flora which Niro had lots of interesting facts to impart. Throughly recommend visiting Rangala House. The people here are wonderful!

We visited 5 hotels (including a 5 star double tree and 5 star boutique hotel) across Sri Lanka, while Rangala House offered the most exceptional atmosphere and experience. What we were looking for was a quiet and first class boutique place were you still experience deep Sri Lankan hospitality, and this is what you get at Rangala. The combination of the British charm and Sri Lankan tradition is rooted in every detail and in the way you are taken care of. Food was top notch, no other restaurant in Sri Lanka offered this depth of taste and high number of(partially self-grown) ingredients. You should also try the western (British touch) dinner, even for Europe it would be exceptionally good. All rooms were unique and waking up with a view into the jungle is just amazing. Fortunately, Rangala House is oriented towards sunset ;). Unexpectedly, reaching the hotel is quiet easy, which is a big plus! To summarize, no picture will ever be able to really transport the beauty of this boutique hotel. We will come back for sure!

We had an amazing stay at Rangala House! Anthony, Sam and the team were amazing and made us feel so welcomed and relaxed. The photos don’t do the view justice. The place has a pool and a communal area where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner overlooking the view. The food was amazing, defiantly recommend having lunch and dinner there. Highly recommend staying here!

Absolutely faultless. The photos don’t do it justice—the views are breathtaking, even in a storm. With books, a telescope, games, movies, a pool, and exceptional food, there’s no shortage of things to enjoy on site. The surrounding hikes are spectacular, and Elia and the team made sure every need was met. The communal setup creates space for connection without compromising privacy—relaxed, spacious, and truly unforgettable. So special we extended our stay, we will be recommending to everyone.

“Perfect”

Rangala House is a true outstanding place to stay. The situation is stunning, with wonderful verandah. It is social with seamless mixing with other guests and staff, and with many excellent self guided local walks from the house, We felt like we were staying with family they were so kind and easy. Any hiking expeditions to the Knuckles are very easily arranged (as can golf I understand). The food was some of the best we had in Sri Lanka (and we had outstanding meals at Rangala). Our many thanks to Anthony, Sam and all the staff. We were very sorry to leave. We would return at any opportunity (as most visitors would desire). Note we stayed for 4 nights and would not have wanted to stay for anything shorter.

The view was incredible from the terrace. Staff were really lovely. Great walks from the door locally…we did two walks from the house and another day did a guided 20k knuckles hike which was tough but enjoyable. Property very clean and room was comfortable. Pool was lovely and garden beautiful.
