We were a group of eight friends and had an excellent stay here—cooking, relaxing, and spending quality time together. The property is very close to Dickwella Beach, and Hiriketiya is just a short tuk-tuk ride away (around 400 LKR), though it’s also walkable. Despite being near the main road, the place is surprisingly quiet, making it ideal for groups. Our host, Chamila, was warm, welcoming, and always helpful—he even treated us to cake. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and well-maintained, which added to the overall comfort of our stay.

Staying here was like staying at your mum and dads. It was so well maintained and run very well. While it’s not in the hustle, it’s easy enough to get to by walking or tuk tuk. I highly rate this little sanctuary. Beautifully minimalist, functional and clean. The owners are caring and kind and a lovely presence when needed.

The staff were so friendly, helpful, generous and thoughtful. They moved our towels out of the rain when we weren't there and gave us homemade cake! An amazing place to stay, great facilities and great location close to the beach and short walk to Hiriketiya beach. We loved our time here and highly recommended!

“Great apartment in lovely grounds”

We had a fabulous stay at Surf Bay Villa. Our room was large and very comfortable and the shower was fantastic. The premises are in lovely grounds in a quiet road away from all the bustle, but close to all amenities. Chamila was a great host, who served us a lovely breakfast and was very helpful arranging a taxi and even used some special oil to ease my sunburn. Would highly recommend Surf Bay Villa.

We stayed in SurfBayVilla for a few days. Perfect accomodation, great locatiion. In silent area, away from the noise road! Cargills, fruit shop, etc. in a few minutes. Beach is also. You can get Hiriketiya beach by foot or take a pick-me. House is big and great. The room has comfortable beds. The kitchen is also good, we cooked breakfast for our kids. Owner Chamila was very kind, sometimes could drive us to the beach or to the cafe, also he show us the beautiful temple near the villa. After Chamila's house we moved to some places and every time our kids said "when we can return to Chamila? We enjoyed there" We are really enjoyed. Highly recommend! Chamila, wish you all the best and see you!

In the first place the service, it was outstanding. The owner did so much stuff for as. What a sweet sweet man is working their. Second the seize of the room. It was very nice and we really liked the badroom too.

The property is in a great location - tucked away from the main road but easy walking distance to Dickwella beach and not too far from Hiriketiya either. It is extremely well kept - the rooms are extremely spacious, clean and peaceful and the outside garden is beautiful. Chamila is a wonderful host - very approachable, extremely kind hearted and committed to his guests and made our stay very pleasant.

Big and comfortable room

I love the little garden in front of the house and our private room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was also great with a hot shower and good water pressure. The host prepared delicious local breakfast for as and was generally very kind. Overall highly recommend!!

What a fantastic price for this accommodation- On arrival host explained everything, very helpful & then you are left alone, with a number if you need anything. Room is huge, clean, fridge, kettle etc, then you have access to a huge kitchen with everything needed! Bathroom very spacious and bright with a great shower! Location is ok- 15-20 minute walk to the main action, water sports, surf beach, lots of bars and restaurants. 10 minute walk to a small rocky beach and some restaurants, you are out the way of the hussle and bussle. Very close to supermarkets / shops ( 5 minutes if that )

“Surf Bay Villa is definitely a clean, nice and friendly place to stay!”

This is a very nice place. I would describe it as a bed & breakfast (not sure what it's labelled as on Booking). The owner lives in a separate house and guests stay in a new house with three or four rooms. Each room has a separate bathroom. It's all very roomy and the plave has a nice garden. It's also clean and the style is somewhat colonial with dark tree furniture. Wifi is OK but not great and that's the case wherever you go on Sri Lanka. I could do some work without problem and my daughter could look at Netflix. So, it's ok. The owner is very helpful and friendly and they have a washing service. The location is off Dikwella main street so it's quiet and it takes 5-10 minutes to walk to the beach across the main street and through some deserted plots. Since Surf Bay Villa is in the eastern end of Dikwella it's also close to Hiriketiya beach. Its possible to walk the distance but I recommend using a tuc tuc. This beach is nicer than the beach in Dikwella. Surf Bay Villa is definitely a clean, nice and friendly place to stay!

Suprisingly good place to stay, for this price you get a big room, with airco, fan and mosquitonet. Great shower, very clean, very quiet. Wifi is pretty fast for Sri Lanka standards. 5 min walk to beach, 15 minutes to the busy streets in Hirikiteya. Easy to park your tuktuk

The room was very clean and the bathroom was huge -it had lots of hot water and the aircon and fan worked beautifully! Our host was amazing, answered all our questions and actually managed to sort us out a taxi for our next part of our journey. We really did have a lovely stay here and I very happy to recommend it to anyone!

Host Chamila was very welcoming and our room was clean and spacious. We were able to walk to Dikwella Beach quickly and to hiri Beach in about 15 minutes. Chamila was always available if any needs arose and was able to organise a Tuk-Tuk for us to continue our journey and gave us biscuits while saying goodbye. I can absolutely recommend SurfBayVilla
