Good value for money: good location, clean room with hot water, nice breakfast and helpful host on whatsapp. It is just off the main road so you do not hear the traffic at night.

I loved this beautiful and unique house, right in the middle of a busy Dickwella town, yet hidden away in a garden behind a street gate so it becomes like a quite oasis after chaos of the town. Only minutes walk to one of my favourite beaches, with fishing boats and away from any crowds. If you want to spend time in fun surf beach Hiriketiya, it’s only 15min walk from here. I enjoyed having breakfast in the house with monkeys playing around and sounds of nature. Rooms are comfortable and nice. I would certainly be back!

This is a really cozy and well taken care-of house in Dickwella. Our first impression arriving at the city was a bit bad (coming from Midigama). But this was really compensated by the very nice room they had for us. Breakfast was amazing 😍 and to have so many monkeys and chipmunks at breakfast just made it even better!

“Very clean and comfortable stay in Dikwella”

We had a very nice stay at Mahagedara. It was very quiet place surrounded by trees. From here it is a 10 min walk to Dikwella beach and a 25 min walk to Hiriketiya. The room and accommodation were very well decorated and super clean. Breakfast was very good and every day a new surprise. Our host was very nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay here.

“Mahagedara Dickwella was one of the best places I’ve ever stayed!”

Lets start with the location, its very close to Hiriketiya Beach, tucked away in the middle of a lush garden where you can spot monkeys and birds. What truly stood out to me was the warmth of the place, it genuinely felt like home. The host, Minu, deserves a special mention. His hospitality was beyond amazing, and he made sure we had everything we needed. Its also a big plus that he can help arrange tours and activities around the area, making it easy to explore nearby attractions. Breakfast was included and absolutely delicious. In a nutshell, I felt at home, thanks to the cozy atmosphere, warm hospitality, and Minu’s genuine care that made this trip one of the most memorable for us.

Very quiet, relaxing and clean accommodation. Just off a very busy road in Dickwella but you would not guess it when there! Very peaceful and quiet. Big room with aircon and new bathroom - all very comfortable. Beautiful breakfast in the morning that we enjoyed in the garden. Well located to a main road near ATMs and grocery stores. Not a negative but FYI for other travellers - Dickwella quite different to Hiriketiya. Still very convenient (5-10 minute tuk tuk into Hiriketiya) but something to keep in mind.

Everything is good. Host is really sweet and helpful. Breakfast was good. Rooms were clean and good. Location is good centrally located.

“Peaceful stay next to the beach”

Very clean and quiet property. We very much enjoyed it. It is located in a little courtyard away from all the noise from the road, which was great.

Our stay at mahagedara was absolutely wonderful! The property is beautifully surrounded by nature, offering complete peace and relaxation. The villa was spotless and very well maintained, making it feel like home from the moment we arrived. It’s also excellent value for money compared to other places we’ve stayed. The host “Minu” was extremely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Breakfast was simply amazing – fresh, delicious, and the perfect start to a day. And the beach is just 5 minutes from here. Highly recommend this place.

It is in central location but tucked away from the main road, we slept really well. The breakfast is superb, probably the best we had during our trip in Sri Lanka! Room is super clean and bed is comfortable, we also loved the garden! The owner is really kind and hospitable.

“Great location”

Nice location and staf is super helpful. Location nearby beach. After an item was lost during laundry the owner made sure it was send to our next homestay. No hot water and bit difficult to find as its tucked away on a road with no sign.

The staff were incredible and went above and beyond to support us after a medical issue arose. They were so attentive and considerate and really looked after us. The accommodation is lovely and peaceful, and the gardens are very beautiful - we especially loved having breakfast with the monkeys! Thank you for a very memorable stay.
