Mama Helena and Papa are amazing people. We spent like 10 days in this amazing hostel. The location is perfect, you can walk to both beaches in minutes and there's plenty of restaurants in the area. Mamas food is excellent and very very good price. I hardly recommend stay here and take the big mamas breakfast

I really liked my stay at Helena Hostel. The location was really good, with a 10 minute walking distance to the beach. It was a bit hot at night, but I got used to it, so it didn't bother me that much. Helena and her husband are the best hosts, really helpful and friendly. Also the food was amazing!

“Home to cats, dogs, and monkeys!”

Amazing service. Very friendly staff. Great value for money. Safe hostel. Very clean cheap and delicious local food. Located centrally on the road itself. The hostel is run by a very warm and welcoming family, it is a home to a monkey named Kiri, a cat, and a dog. It's my 2nd time staying here, they remembered me and were so happy to have me again, and likewise :) from the menu my favourite were the special pancakes. Also their portions are very filling.

I loved my stay at Helena Hostel! The owners, a kind srilankese couple are super helpful and available. The hostel is simple and comfortable. The Mam cook delicious food. The location is perfect! Less then 5 min to dikwella beach, and 7 min from hirikatiya beach. The center with fruit shops and restaurants is just 3 min. Everything was perfect. I end up staying 5 days because l absolutely loved the place , the beaches and the stay! Absolutely recommended !!

“A beautiful, heartwarming stay in the perfect location”

We loved this hostel - not only for its amazing location, equidistant about 5 mins walk to Hiriketiya and Dikwella beach, but also for its lovely homely atmosphere provided by Helena and her family. Helena had great recommendations for places to eat and drink which were great value for money and amazing authentic Sri Lankan food, and we felt very safe. The beds had mosquito nets and the property was very tidy. Thank you!

“Best guest house in Sri Lanka”

I loved this family so much that I came back for two days at the end of my trip to Sri Lanka. Thank you, Mama and Dada, for these wonderful, timeless moments! I cried when I left.

I had one night booked, ended up staying 4. It's a cute, small hostel with good location and good hosts. The bed was comfy and the fans was enough, no need for ac. Well worth the money.

Although fast my stay at helenas hostel was wonderful, Helena was very helpful and I felt like part of a family the location is very good just 5mins from the beach!

Perfect location in the middle of everything you need. Helena and her husband are amazing, very kind and helpful people. I ended up staying there long term. Definitely recommend.

“Amazing and homey”

The man and the woman running the place were super nice and friendly and helped with everything. Told us what bus to take to the next stop when Google Maps was showing us a shitty route. They gave us all the facilities needed to make our own breakfast. We rented a scooter from their neighbour and they also sell cold water at the hostel for 150Lkr. They have 2 cats and one dog around the property and also monkeys in the tree right above the roof. They had mosquitonets and good fans for the room so everything was nice.
