“Till we meet again”

We had an amazing time here in this little paradise. Amazing location: only 7-10 mins to busy Hiriketiya Beach. Sjæl (kudawella bach) is much quieter for surfing and chilling, away from the crowds and busy roads. Rooms are beautifully decorated and large in size. All the staff are some of the nicest people you can ever meet ❤️ we loved it here so much that we kept coming back to surf and chill around even after we changed hotels (hotel was fully booked, otherwise without even thinking we would have extended our stay). Surf school here is one of the best in whole Sri Lanka. Everyone is unbelievably sweet, welcoming, warm, kind and fun to hang out with. Thank you for everything once again ❤️🙏🏻

We had an exceptional stay at sjæl, the staff was super kind and took really good care of us, the room was clean and spacious, and the “garden” was lovely! If you like it a bit more quiet, away from the crowded Hiriketiya beach, this is your go-to place! We practically had the beach to ourselves. Location is 10 minutes by tuktuk to Hiriketiya which wasn’t a problem at all

Perfect place to relax. Great accommodation very clean and spacious. The garden / beach area is very comfortable with mats and bean bags to lounge on. The bar and restaurant area is also great along with the staff. Beautiful long sandy beach is quiet and a good place to learn to surf or just swim. A great alternative to the busier Hiriketia which is a short tuk tuk ride away

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sjael. It is a beautiful place, especially the garden, which is fantastic. You can relax on the beanbags provided and enjoy the view of the ocean. The beach behind the garden, where surfing lessons are given, is also beautiful and, above all, so peaceful! A big difference from Hiriketiya Beach, the famous beach nearby. We were really pleasantly surprised by this place. The overall atmosphere is great. A big plus here was the food and drink. Everything was very tasty, with lots of fresh fruit. The coffee was also delicious. You could easily order drinks in the garden. I would definitely recommend Sjael to my friends and family.

“Okay”

All in all they really try to do a good job. The café's location (where brekkie is served) is really nice. However, the rooms are in the back, not at the beach like you might expect. Rooms did not meet my expectations of cleanliness and the bathroom had an odd smell. Brekkie was good but it took forever to come. I don't like to give bad reviews and it definitely was not that bad but I would not come back :(

Really exceptionally nice staff, really trying to accommodate you and make you feel welcome, I absolutely loved the girls. Also very nice atmosphere in the restaurant and outside. Acceptable coffee for sri lanka.

“Amazing authentic surf spot – feels like home!”

I absolutely loved this place! The rooms are beautiful, new, and spotless – I didn't see a single insect in my room during my entire stay. The staff is very helpful, and the owners are super people who create such an amazing atmosphere that you feel at home right away. The food is good, and the garden is the perfect place to chill after surfing. Speaking of surfing – the lessons were great! It’s a fantastic spot for beginners, very authentic and unpretentious. As for the location, there isn't much to do in the immediate area at night, but it’s only a 5-10 minute tuk-tuk ride to Hiriketiya if you want more action. Alternatively, you can stay in and enjoy a quiet, delicious drink at the hotel bar. Highly recommended!

Amazing location with a fantastic surf school and direct beach access. Suitable for those new to surfing/beginners and not as crowded as Hiriketiya (only 10mins away by Tuk tuk). Super friendly and helpful staff who can arrange Tuk tuks if needed. Great chilled out vibe of the property overall. Would highly recommend.

“Waste of money”

The room was spacious and well decorated.

The location is lovely and the rooms are nice so we would recommend for a relaxing beach/surf stay but there just seems to be some areas that need improvement.

“Calm location, great for surfing.”

Beautiful location with great access to a quiet beach with excellent waves for surfing. A great option if you want to escape the bustle of Hiriketiya. Bean bags, parasols and plenty of space make this a great place to relax during the day. There is also the option to rent surfboards or have lessons. Staff were accommodating when we decided to shorten our trip.

Really lovely location on a private beach. Garden also lovely that leads directly onto the beach.
