We had a wonderful stay at Zarafa House and would happily return. One thing to note is that Zarafa House charges an extra fee for air conditioning as part of their efforts to be environmentally conscious and to reduce unnecessary energy consumption. We chose not to take the A/C so we could adjust more quickly to the tropical climate, and we’re glad we did. The fan was more than sufficient, and after a few days we were fully acclimatized. Breakfast was a real highlight of our stay and quite different from what we usually experience. It’s neither a buffet nor à la carte — instead, every day brings a pleasant surprise. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful, with fresh juice, fresh fruit, and a main dish that changes daily, making each morning something to look forward to. We had read in some previous reviews that the place might lack a homely feeling, but that was absolutely not our experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt very welcome. The staff are warm, attentive, and always ready to help, yet they also give you the space and privacy to fully enjoy the peaceful tropical paradise. This balance made the stay feel genuinely comfortable and homely. Another eco-friendly initiative we appreciated is that the hot water is solar heated. It can take a little time for the warm water to come through, but we never experienced any issues and always had hot water whenever we needed it. Zarafa House is not beachfront, but the location is still very convenient. The nearest beach is only about a 10-minute walk away, and if you want to explore other parts of Diani Beach, affordable tuk-tuks are readily available. After a hectic day at the beach, it’s always lovely to return to the calm and serene atmosphere of the B&B. Finally, the B&B is set in a beautiful tropical garden, which adds a lot to its charm. As expected in such a lush environment, there may be insects around, but that’s simply part of staying in a tropical paradise.

“Amazing stay! Incredible host”

We had a wonderful stay, the highlight here is the exceptional staff lead by Anne, who is a kind and attentive host that really tried to make us feel at home and help with any request. The room was spacious and the shower was good and hot. We loved the mosquito nets as we were being very cautious with malaria with my wife being pregnant. The breakfast is another highlight here. It changes everyday. You get a plate of fresh fruits and then whatever the chef is cooking that morning, plus coffee and a juice. It’s a big generous meal and sometimes we struggled to finish everything because it was so much food. There’s also a security guard 24/7 for peace of mind. You can book a massage, which I did. Anne helps with airport transfers and everything else you need. You’ll be looked after. I really recommend this place to all travellers.

Staying in this property was amazing. Home away from home. The property was very nice, client and clean. The owners went out and beyond by arranging activities and taxis for us. Anne borrowed us the beach walking shoes for free. And ohh they accommodated us by closing off their loved dogs as we were uncomfortable around them. Thank you Anne for everything.

“Perfect stay”

Everything was perfect in the room. I strongly recommend to have a dinner in the hôtel - the chef is very good! It was the peaceful & calm place that I needed !

“A mix of relax and tradition”

Ann and her partner were absolutely kind and welcoming. We recommend Zarafa House to everyone, including who has kids. They serve a really good and fresh breakfast and it changes every day. My girlfriend needed a Gluten Free option and Ann well satisfied her requests. In addition, the room was spacious and very clean and the ambiance was calm and relaxing. I was up to thanks all the staff: they were absolutely friendly and helpful. They helped us also to plan our unforgettable excursions. It’s been a lovely stay!!!

“Nice place but owner lacks hospitality”

Everything was clean, the place is lovely and so is the local staff, good breakfast, huge fruit plate, close to the beach and Kongo River but I found the owner meh-cold-ish.

Their rooms are very clean, well organized, exquisite landscape and attractive environment, the night view from the pool, swings and the sitting place is quite breathtaking. Their staff are very friendly. It's not far from the beach and very accessible road. The rooms have an African touch and are quiet, where relaxation is at its best. I likes how their windows are made in that no mosquito disturbance. Their rooms are cool. The breakfast display was awesome, it was so delicious.

I enjoyed my stay at Zarafa with my family. The rooms were clean, beddings changed and met expectations. I also enjoyed the breakfast and meals made by the chef.

This is a beautiful quiet oasis. Very well designed with lots of lovely touches. Superb breakfast.

Loved the calmness and tranquility that came with the stay. Felt like I was in a secluded palace somewhere near the beach. 100 percent would recommend.

Great bed and breakfast! The owner is very welcoming and helpful and the facilities are great. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful.

Really enjoyed our stay. Ann was really helpful in arranging activities and also provided a great breakfast. The property was quiet and relaxing with an honesty box/fridge with drinks to enjoy by the pool. Bedroom and bathroom were finished to a high standard and other staff were a delight to interact with.
