We had a wonderful stay at this Airbnb! The fantastic hosts were incredibly warm and attentive, making us feel right at home with excellent local tips. The room by the waterfall was magical — waking up to the soothing sound of cascading water was unforgettable. The views are breathtaking and the whole property feels peaceful and private. The food was outstanding too — delicious fresh meals that we looked forward to every time. A true gem with great hospitality, comfort, and location. Highly recommended!

This hotel is located in a piece of paradise. Perfectly situated by the train tracks, in a tea plantation and amidst lush nature. The owners, father and son, are very professional and committed to their customers. They really want to arrange everything for you, such as our train journey or a tour. They also give good advice about traveling in Sri Lanka. Lovely people.

Great location next to the river, very bumpy but exciting 4x4 ride to the accommodation, kids really enjoyed swimming in the river. Good food, friendly staff and excellent rainforest trek with great guide. Saw lots of snakes and lizards on the trek

“Immersed in nature”

The location is beautiful and remote. Constant white noise from the river, and an under cover verandah for admiring the view. Good restaurant, breakfasts were particularly good and we enjoyed having them outside on verandah. Staff very lovely, communication good.

Awesome and adventurous spot right on a raging river. My partner saw an otter which is very rare, we also did a rainforest hike which was easy planned though the family who own the accommodation and restaurant (night walk was great my 7 year old says). Nowhere else to eat but the restaurant, it was fine for us over the 3 nights. We did a self guided hike too, which was awesome because the views and landscape are absolutely breathtaking. If you go here, you are staying here, it is remote but totally worth it.

“Simply stunning! Favourite place we stayed.”

We loved this accomodation. This was my favourite place we stayed in Sri Lanka. The location was simply stunning. The accomodation is reached via a jeep and the journey up to it is a bit of an adventure in itself, be prepared for a bumpy steep track! Once there, you are surrounded by rainforest and right next to a gorgeous stream. Again be prepared the stream and small waterfal is noisy, for me this was relaxing and not an issue though as I loved listening to it when I went to sleep. The value of this accomodation is amazing for the unique experience you get once there. Yes the rooms are basic but have everything you need. They are clean and comfy and the view from the balcony was lovely. Food was fantastic, made fresh to order. Large portions, good variety, good quality and good price. We arranged two rainforest tours through the accomodation. They provided everything we needed, gave us lifts to meet our guide and get to the entrance. The stream outside was perfect to swim in and relax next to in the afternoon. If you love nature, you will love it here.

Perfect location. It is really a Hideaway. The water stream is amazing. We had a good swim there. Very peaceful stay. You only hear the continuous and constant sound from the water stream. Food served was great. Staff is very helpful and flexible... It is a family run properly.

“Secluded luxury stay - river and staff are amazing!”

Amazing service from the owner - responds to any request on WhatsApp almost immediately. The rover was a lifesaver during the heat and wonderful to go explore. Beds were comfortable and clean. Balcony on our room was great. The night trek tour we did was well organized with a great guide. I also really recommend the Ayurvedic herbal massage - was just the icing on the cake!!

Incredible remote location right next to a waterfall seemingly miles from anywhere!!! The hosts pick you up in a very battered landrover to tackle the bumpiest mud track for the last 1km which is exhilarating to say the least! It is amazing that in such a location they have managed to build such wonderful lodges, equipped with huge and comfortable beds, and serve delicious food. We did a 4 hour walk in the Sinharaja forest which was hot and humid but beautiful to walk through dense rainforest with sightings of lizards, spiders, millipedes, snakes and scorpion. Not as much wildlife as I expected but then they are wild!

We had an amazing stay. The location is truly stunning, surrounded by beautiful nature, and the room was very clean and comfortable. The food was excellent, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. The rainforest tour was extremely well organized and a real highlight of the trip. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would happily return.

Rainforest Hideaway is an amazing place to spend some free time if you visit Sinharaja Forest. Rainforest Hideway is a family-owned business. This family shows exactly what the Sri Lankan hospitality is all about. Household cooked tasty meals is your choice. Rooms are clean and comfy beds, and sometimes even 5 star hotels do not have. Location of this Hideaway is exceptional. It is on the banks of Ging Ganga (River). Tranquil place to relax and dream. The family is friendly, polite, and very helpful. They organized my trip to Sinharaja Forest, also getting me a very knowledgeable guide to accompany me. Guides name is Sagara Jayasinghe, wow! this guy cared deeply about the nature. I would recommend Rainforest Hideaway to anybody who is looking for a relaxing holiday. This is a hidden gem in Sri Lanka. Everything was perfect

“Absolute gem”

Everything was amazing. The location itself is stunning. You get there with a short 4x4 ride to where the cottages are located, right next to a waterfall that has some natural swimming areas in it. Our kids (and us) had a great time going through the rapids, jumping off rocks and exploring the area around. There are very little stores around the area, but the mother of the family cooks on site for bf, lunch and dinner. Everything is delicious, even our picky kids had options to choose from. All in all a real gem of a stay, the whole family owning/running it are lovely and we cannot recommend enough

The place was very nice and cozy. Room was clean and there was lots of space. Waterfall was a great place to swim! They organized our trips to rainforest and we got excellent guide for us! They also organized our arrival and our trip to Udawalawe national park and transport to Tangalle. This was our best place in Sri Lanka holiday!
