It was so close to one of the entrance to the forest (acrually kind of next door) and this will be a good selection if you have such a plan. And the staff was so friendly as I had to do some changes with my reservation and they were still comparative.

Excellent guided bird watching walk in village, seen many different brightly coloured birds including 4 types of kingfishers. Lovely rainforest trek to waterfall for a dip. Guide was very knowledgable .

The location of Forest Edge is perfect. Beyond the Forest, the gorgeous lily ponds and lush garden surrounding the property were an unexpected bonus. The rooms (we had 2 nights in a non-aircon standard room and 1 night in a deluxe aircon room) were both well arranged and comfortable. The standard room was basic but very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The aircon room was well worth the extra and included a table and two chairs on the verandah to sit overlooking the lovely garden, which we much enjoyed. The tours were well organised and reasonably priced. Both the early morning Bird Watching tour and the half-day Forest Trek were so interesting and enjoyable. The Forest and birds are truly wonderful. The Restaurant food was particularly good, with an excellent manager and very pleasant staff. Also thoroughly recommend the massage service available. One of the best I have had in Sri Lanka and the perfect way to relax after a forest trek.

“Perfect location for seeing the wildlife of the rain forest”

This is a great location - right on the edge of the forest - within 20 metres of the ticket office. They team lined up an excellent guide for our one day trek. We also did an early morning bird watching tour with him which was good. There is nature all around - a water monitor in the fish pond and rare white monkeys in the trees above. As a bonus just up the road is an incongruously excellent ice cream stall

Beautiful, natural landscaping, right beside one of the entrances to the rainforest. Waterlilies in natural ponds. Staff were lovely. Nice, decent-sized swimming pool to cool off in. Excellent breakfasts. Complimentary lifts to and from the property and local village (because the track is not suitable for cars).

Location was great. Right by rainforest and the grounds were full of wildlife. Monkeys, birds, lizards, spiders etc. Breakfast was good with excellent freshly made omlettes.

Very beautiful setting! The location is right on the edge of the forest so you can enter it very easily on foot (with a guide). There is great nature on site - we saw lots of lizards, birds, butterflies, monkeys and even a snake. There are also 2 very cute puppies! It was very peaceful. The food was great. It was a buffet breakfast (included in the price) and buffet dinner which typically included curry or kottu type dishes. Some reviews complained about this being expensive, but I think 2500r for a buffet meal is reasonable given the remote location and the fact you can go back for more. There's also a lunch and drinks menu, though we didn't use this. Our (upgraded) room had good Aircon and the bed was comfortable. The pool is nice, but we found a leech in there so be careful. The hotel arranged to collect us for free from a local village in a jeep because the entrance is on a dirt road that would be quite hard for a taxi or tuk tuk to get through. This was really helpful. The staff work hard. They even brought breakfast back out for us one morning even though we had missed the breakfast slot because of our jungle walk. We really appreciated this.
