The room and the balcony are fantastic, much much nicer than in the pictures! It completely exceeded our expectations. Definitely go for a hike in the rainforest with the host (professional guide) and you will see many snakes, lizards, insects, birds, etc.

Nice big glasses wall offers beautiful view to the river and jungle, where a peacock could be seen every day :-) Everything clean. Above-standard bathroom by Sri Lankan standards. Enough powerfull AC Good food adapted to my allergies.

“Exceptional jungle hideaway, great hosts, great guide.”

Kasun and his family were exceptional hosts. We stayed here three nights of our trip in Sri Lanka and it was by far the best part of our stay. The villa is such a peaceful little spot overlooking the river. We could wake up and watch the birds and monitor lizards, or chill in the evening listening to the wildlife. Kasun’s wife cooked delicious breakfasts and dinners for us, and they all made us feel very at home. We enjoyed a night time safari on the first night we arrived. On the second day we did a daytime jungle hike and saw loads of lizards and snakes as well as birds, monkeys and other animals. Kasun was an extremely knowledgeable guide and knew how to spot all the wildlife. On our last day we had a tuk tuk tour of villages, temple and the tea plantation, which was worth it for the fantastic scenery throughout. 100% would recommend and would stay again.

Top stay. Host and family were so warm and welcoming. Very happy to accommodate all our requests for bird-watching - and we were so fortunate to see so much owing to the knowledge, enthusiasm and expertise of our guides. (Including Kasun's young sons who brought us back from a morning walk!) All meals were truly delicious. And the space we had was huge with everything in good working order. Can't recommend enough.

Easily one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed at. Very friendly host, who’s happy to help you out in any way and is a very knowledgeable guide for tours in the rain forest as well. So far the best food I’ve had in Sri Lanka. Very modern and clean room with a marvelous view on the river where you can see all kinds of animals passing by. And all that for an extremely fair price. I’d be more than happy to come here again!

I can recommend! The open and huge room (the whole floor), the family, the food, the tour with the owners father. He is a very good and knowledgeable man.

“Excellent!”

We stayed here for two nights as a family of four, including our 10 and 7-year-old children. Our host family was incredibly kind and wonderful—they truly made our trip to Sri Lanka special. The stay was undoubtedly the highlight of our entire journey. Although we had already booked another guide for the Sinharaja Forest Reserve this time, we will definitely ask the host to guide us on our next visit. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here every day, and every single meal was delicious. Those meals, combined with the time spent chatting with the family, became such precious memories. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Sri Lanka. We look forward to another wonderful time!

This is by far our favorite place in Sri Lanka. The location just a bit before the national park is fantastic. We really enjoyed the beautiful balcony with its comfy chairs and the view on the river. But the very best is the family. Kasu is such a welcoming host. He showed us his garden, took us on a fantastic tour in the rainforest and helped us last minute when our driver cancelled the ride just before he was supposed to pick us up. Kasu managed to get us a tuktuk within a few minutes. 15min later, we've been picked up. Also his wife, she spoiled us with fresh juices, very good breakfast and rice & curry. We will definitely come back if we come to Sri Lanka again.

Very peaceful with a wonderful view for spotting birdlife. Very friendly family always keen to assist with your needs and to help nature spotting.

“Perfect”

We absolutely loved our stay here! The location is perfect, very close to the rainforest, which makes it super convenient since you can get there easily when your tour starts. The hosts were incredibly kind and took such good care of us. We also had dinner here, which was absolutely delicious, definitely a recommendation in itself. We joined the owner on a rainforest tour, and it was such an amazing experience. He was truly skilled at spotting animals, so we got to see so many beautiful creatures. On top of that, he shared so much knowledge about the wildlife, which made it all the more enjoyable. All in all, we are very grateful for this wonderful experience and would recommend it to anyone. Also worth mentioning: their English is excellent, which made communication very easy and pleasant.

Unforgettable stay in a very cozy place connected with a visit to rain forest, guided by the owner of the apartment. Very tasty food. What more could you want?

“Amazing trip!”

What an experience. The room was beautiful and perfect for the three of us. The bathroom felt very luxury and the shower was very good. The family prepared a lovely dinner of curries for us which was one of the best curries we have had. The breakfast was also lovely and we all left very full of food. The rainforest tour was amazing and swimming under a waterfall was a real highlight. This trip is a must

We stayed here for two nights, doing a guided tour in between. It was a super good stay. Usually, the owner himself does the guided tour. In our case, he was already booked, so his father guided us. He was a great guide, with a lot of love for the forest and a lot of knowledge after guiding people around for already over 20 years. After the tour, we had delicious food, served at the new guesthouse of the owners brother (Wildlife Kingdom, we did not sleep there but it looked also very comfortable with a great view). All other meals were also prepared by the owners wife, and after spending two weeks in Sri Lanka we can say that that was the best food we have had so far! We stayed on the top floor, which was very comfortable. Of course, being close to nature means there will be insects, so be prepared for that ;) Thank you for hosting us!

Our stay at the Rainforest River Bay was amazing! The family is really nice and helped us with everything. The food and tea was exceptional. We did a tour through the rainforest with Kasun (the owner of the guesthouse). He has a huge knowledge about the forest, its plants and animals. Thank you for the lovely weekend we really enjoyed it!!

“Great place to stay run by an even better family.”

Wonderful family and a great place to stay. The room is the entire top floor, there's a living area, seperate bedroom and balcony. Definitely great value for money. Perfect location close to the start of the rainforest trekking path. The food cooked by the family is fantastic, huge portions and really tasty. I did the rainforest trek with the host and he was great, he will spot animals out of nowhere, quite amazing.

Great accomodation, close to the rainforest. We had a whole flor with to balconies for our own. The hosts are such warmhearted people. We even got a great dinner. The pineapple juice was delicious.
