“Fabulous, memory making and well worth a visit if you can make it to Sri Lanka”

The location was excellent for day and night hikes in and around the forest. Saman and Umesha are wonderful hosts, very kind, thoughtful and hugely knowledgable about the area. We did a night hike and Saman showed us snakes, lizards, scorpion, frogs and other insects and bugs. The following day am we did a wonderful walk to the waterfall for a scenic swim, exploring the rai forest on our way, this time seeing more snakes, millipedes, monkeys and an owl. We went with our 10 year old sons and it was wonderful for young and old! Umesha is the most wonderful cook and provides the most delicious meals for all to enjoy. I could not recommend Rainforest Nest high enough.

“Best place in Sri Lanka”

The best place we stayed on Sri Lanka. Beautiful quiet location, amazing view right from the bed. The cottage is really comfotarble, with great attention to details. What is best is the host family, Saman and his wife made my family feel like at home. Great forest and night village tour with Saman, we have seen and learn so much. I can highly recommend!

We stayed here for 3 nights and had an amazing time. The hosts are so welcoming - they made their home feel like ours 😊The location is PERFECT and staying here was the highlight of our 12 day trip... We really missed the noises of the rainforest once we moved onto Tangalle.

We stayed in the cottage and we really enjoyed it. Everything was very clean and the hosts were very welcoming. We went into the forest with Saman and his brother who are wonderful guides. We loved every moment spent here and the 2 days will remain our favorite memory from our stay in Sri Lanka.

“Fantastic rainforest stay”

This was truly the best accommodation and overall stay we had during our three weeks in Sri Lanka. We absolutely loved the setting — fantastic little cottages overlooking rice fields and right at the edge of the rainforest. Sitting on the balcony was magical, with the calls of peacocks, the sounds of kingfishers, and even monkeys appearing at the forest edge. The accommodation itself was beautiful, cozy, and very comfortable, making it easy to relax and fully enjoy the surroundings. The breakfasts and dinners were absolutely amazing, some of the best food we had on the trip. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming, and Saman, who is a rainforest guide, took us on unforgettable walks where we saw plenty of wildlife. The Sinharaja Forest Reserve itself was a fantastic surprise — we changed our travel plans due to the floods, and it turned out to be a truly unique and unforgettable place. Thanks to this stay and kind hosts, our experience felt very special and authentic, something we will remember for a long time.

“Absolutely perfect”

I stayed for three nights and it wasn't nearly long enough. I went on a rainforest tour and a guided birding walk both with Saman. I highly recommend you do the same. He's incredibly knowledgeable - He even nursed an injured bird back to health (It had flown into a window and was stunned). there are also so many beautiful paths you can take to explore on your own, and after a full day of exploring you'll come back to a warm greeting, some great food and a very comfortable room. This is where I close my eyes and imagine that I am when I'm having a bad day. :)

The view, location, fodod, stuff was more than perfect . We went for a tour with Saman to the rainforest, and it was memorable.

“An unforgettable stay close to nature”

A truly beautiful place, wonderfully located and very clean. The owners are incredibly kind people. Umesha is an excellent cook, and Saman is a fantastic rainforest guide. We highly recommend going on trips with him - he is very engaged, you can clearly see that he loves nature and what he does, which makes the experience even more enjoyable.

Both hosts, the tour with Saman, the food, the view from the porch, the amazing birdlife around (two massive Owls landed on our porch during the night, Kingfishers, Bee-eaters, Peacocks all around, even a Snake eagle)

“A lovely stay”

The accommodation had a lovely terrace facing the rice field. The room, a little tight in terms of size, was clean with a large comfortable bed. The host family were very welcoming and helpful. The meal was freshly prepared and tasty. We enjoyed our stay, thank you.
