“Comfortable hotel with staff providing help so that we were able to continue our holiday”
We had a one-night stay at De Twentse Nar hotel previously in 2023; it lies just 400 metres west of the Dutch-German border and for us travelling by car and ferry from England to Finland, it is a good half-way stop-over between the ports of Hoek van Holland and Travemünde. A repeat visit was also our choice in 2025, to a comfortable bed and breakfast place with a very pleasant beer garden and its own car park. This year was different in that, while travelling the last km or so to the hotel, we passed through De Lutte, a newish settlement with some very fierce road humps (drempels) for traffic calming – we hit one underneath rather hard, causing a loud noise and the car's engine to falter. Worried about our onward trip, I found that there were a couple of local garages open on the following morning, a Saturday. The hotel owner agreed to phone one for me after serving breakfast, and, above and beyond, he offered to drive to the garage with me following behind in my car, and he informed the mechanic of our problem. The mechanic raised my car to examine the underneath, with the welcome result that it would be safe for us to continue our long journey to Travemünde, and he didn't charge. I only have praise for the hotel and its manager, the garage in De Lutte, and of course, to the general helpfulness of the Dutch.

“Pretty average place. You pay or what you pay.”
The staff was nice and helpful. The location is pretty good but remote. There is a restaurant and its food is great. Breakfast was great, it involves a lot of bread thus if you like it, the place is for you. The room was clean and cozy, not too big nor too small.
