Overview
Renovated in June 2015 and located just steps away from the Shikotsu Toya National Park and in the centre of the Kita Yuzawa hot-spring area, Midorinokaze Resort Kitayuzawa is a 35-minute bus ride from the JR Date Monbetsu Train Station. A foot bath and indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths are offered. A free shuttle is available from the JR Sapporo Train Station. Midorinokaze Resort Kitayuzawa also provides an airport shuttle service to New Chitose Airport at an extra charge and is available upon reservation. The air-conditioned rooms feature Western-style beds and a tatami (woven-straw) seating area. Each includes a TV, a refrigerator, and an en suite bathroom with free amenities. The hotel provides a sauna for guests to relax in. A Game room is also available for an enjoyable stay. The 1st floor internet terminal can be used for free, and duty-free shopping is availble at the on-site gift shop. There are 3 restaurants on site. Seseragi serves Japanese and Chinese dishes as well as a buffet available for dinner. Guests can savour a traditional Japanese set menu at Morinokaze Saryo while French and Italian dishes are on offer at restaurant ZEN. Fresh coffee is offered at the cafe. Kitayuzawa Midorinokaze Resort is a 30-minute drive from the Lake Toyako and Lake Shikotsu. The Sangaitaki Park is a 10-minute drive away.

“Pretty facilities and nice staff, but a very mouldy room with no kaiseki dinner”
The breakfast and dinner buffets were delicious (however there was no change between days so I can imagine it would get old pretty quickly if staying for more than a few nights) and the facilities were large with attractive design. The staff were the best part about this place, they were very nice and helpful wherever possible. The issues we experienced with mould were probably not due to the cleaning staff, but likely rather the building itself. The river is really beautiful as well, with lovely views from the hotel room.

“Great onsen hotel tucked in the mountains”
Hotel tucked in the mountains with an amazing onsen (indoors, outdoors). Rooms are big and comfy. Lots of options for outdoor fun and just 20 min drive from the lakes. The outdoor onsen is beautiful and very relaxing, especially at night.

A great place to stay if you are skiing at Rusutzu, provided you have a car. It's an easy 40 min drive to skiing. So lovely to come back to onsen, dinner and breakfast. Gorgeous location. A lovely place to stay.

The onsen was very nice. The room was spacious and the service/staff was more than adequate. The buffet was quite good with lots sof options, of course you cannot expect haute cuisine with this format.

It has a nice view. Location is in the middle of no where, we drove there, a bit hard to get to, but it has a nice scenery. Nice onsen, a lot of different onsen to choose from. Staff are friendly.

Onsen outside tubs very beautiful especially with the snow. Onsen large, well laid out & clean. Food tastey with lots of western ,Japanese & Chinese choices. Staff extremely friendly. Room clean.

What an incredible stay! I'm going to be dreaming about this hotel for a long time. The onsen was just amazing and the food was such a treat. We would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay!

“Pleasant stay”
The onsen was lovely and huge! Lots of lovely communal spaces and appreciated the walk to the foot bath and river in the morning. We upgraded to the kaiseki dinner and it was super value for money - a fantastic meal with great service. While the hotel isn’t super new, the room was clean and comfortable.
