“Genuine authentic homestay with great food and lovely people!”

A genuine homestay with a lovely family who made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived! We were served a delicious home cooked dinner and breakfast and really felt like part of the family. We learned so much about Sri Lanka and the area surrounding the property and nothing was too much trouble. If you want an authentic family stay with good food and fabulous Sri Lanken hospitality, then this is the place. It was also exceptional value for money.

“The best place we stayed at in Sri Lanka”

We had a wonderful stay at Kon Tree Shade. The family is extremely kind and welcoming, Venishiya is an amazing cook and her son is a very funny guy, we enjoyed talking to them and getting to know them day by day. The room was nice and comfortable, the shower has hot water and there's a washing machine available in the room. Good position close to Dambulu Oya bus stop. Breakfast and dinner are a must! Even though we stayed with this lovely family for only one night, it was a truly special experience. Everything was perfect, we stayed for 2 nights. Venisha and Bijay were the best hosts we could ask for, dinner was delicious made with lots of love. It was our last stop before leaving Sri Lanka and it couldnt have been better. Thank you so much.

“A truly special place”

This homestay has been the most special place we stayed at in Sri Lanka. We spent two nights here and, during our stay, the father of the house, Wije, was alone, so we couldn’t meet his wife. We hope to come back in the future and meet her as well. The price is good and the room very comfortable. There’s the possibility to do laundry, have dinner, breakfast and there’s hot water. The included breakfast was very tasty: pancake, omelette, home-made jam, milk tea and coconut roti. Wije is amazing. We’ve been traveling around Asia for a year, and the very reason why we travel is to meet people like him to share stories and enjoy good conversations. In fact, what we loved the most was listening to his life story. It reminded us that in life we can be many different things, and that when a job or something goes wrong, we can always turn the situation around and start again, creating something even more beautiful. We truly hope to come back here in the future and we recommend everyone to stop by. ❤️❤️❤️

The best place we stayed in Sri Lanka! The family are so kind and friendly. They cooked us lovely breakfasts and dinners and helped us organise our safari trip. Only 5 minutes by bus to Dambulla. Very good price as well. If we could give it 11 stars we would! Thank you so much!

The owners are amazing, you will fell like at home 😊 We had different delicious breakfast every morning. The lunch and dinner were so nice as well with fresh local products. It was nice having some relaxing walks in the countryside behind the house. We definitely recommend to stay with these beautiful people to have an authentic experience ❤️

Impressive old fasion house and great hospirality.

Fantastic hosts that made our first two nights in Sri Lanka feel like home. We definitely recommend staying there. Breakfast and especially(!) dinners were amazing.

Such a welcoming, kind and lovely family. We felt at home straight away. We had a good rest and deep sleep that we needed. They are making delicious food for your breakfast and dinner 🤤. And we learned many thing about Sri-Lanka. So if you want to meet locals and have a good experience and not being surrounded by thousand of tourists in your resort that the place to be , close to people from the country you visit ! ❤️

Amazing family, it was so nice to meet them and share their life for 2 nights. Venishia and her husband made incredible dinner and breakfast, really good fruit juices also. We also spent a very nice time with their son wish. The price is really cheap compared to the quality of the experience we had. We definitely recommend you this place if you would like to live with an amazing sri lankan family.

“The perfect stay and a glimpse of village life”

The location is great, lovely big terrace to sit outside, we had a cool breeze most of the time, it’s a short walk to the canal then it’s a nice walk along the canal through some farms and to a village. You can also walk the 4k to the cave temple along this route. Food that we ate was delicious and typical Sri Lankan. The hosts are incredibly interesting having had fascinating careers and are now a large part of the community. We loved the 3 nights that we spent with this family and the people that we met while staying with them.🙏🏾

“Our favourite place we stayed in Sri Lanka”

We arrived with no expectations but were absolutely blown away at every step of our stay! The family welcomed us with open arms, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Their hospitality and kindness were truly exceptional. The house itself is beautiful, thoughtfully designed by the father of the family. With high ceilings, it stays cool even in the heat, creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are lovely, well-maintained, and equipped with great amenities. The food was another highlight—both breakfast and dinner were delicious, homemade, and full of flavor. The quality and generosity make this an incredible value for money. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend staying here!

Right Next to Dambulu Oya bus stop, this home stay is in a chilled quiet hood. There are a few shops around, and a river where you can swim. The room was so cozy and clean, I slept like a baby. Good mattres 😊. But the best is the family. They take a lot of care of the guests, always helpful. They're so wise. There's always a nice chat to have with them. Also Tom, the cat, he's lovely. Me-ow, my friend 🥰 And about the cooking, it's absolutely amazing. Best meals I had in Sri Lanka. They cook with love, and you can taste it. Don't miss breakfast and dinner here. After a month in many different stays, I know that whenever I come back to Sri Lanka, I will stop here. Thank you for your care.
