“Delightful hosts”

Wonderful hotel! My stay here left me with the absolute best impressions, first and foremost thanks to the amazing, incredibly pleasant, and welcoming hosts who live on-site in the neighboring building. ​The location is just superb! The hotel is situated right at the foot of the mountain, making it quick and easy to walk to the famous Dambulla Cave Temple. It's also very convenient to hike up the mountain from here to catch a breathtaking sunset. ​A special and huge thanks to the host Janaka. He was incredibly helpful with sightseeing! Janaka has his own Tuk-tuk, which we used to get around everywhere. On top of that, he personally accompanied me on a safari, where he showed me around 50 elephants in total! It was unforgettable. ​Thank you so much for such amazing hospitality! I will definitely be back.

“A beautiful jungle environment to enjoy and relax”

The surrounding gardens are beautiful, set in a tropical forest. You can watch monkeys in their natural environment, swinging through the trees as they make their way back to the rock in the evening. There's a great spot to watch the sunset across the road and a short climb up a huge rock. It's a very relaxing and rejuvenating place to stay. Also it is close to the Rock caves and the golden Buddha. I would also recommend that you have an evening meal cooked by Nisha. Such nourishing, delicious food with a good variety of vegetables protein and rice and made to your specifications of spiciness. Janaka was great driving me to Sigiriya at 4.45 am and later, driving me to Kandy. Such a lovely family with 3 friendly and smart children. I was sad to leave today.

Hospitality was wonderful - lovely family . Great breakfast! Room was simply furnished and overlooked peaceful garden with Songbird on waking … Close to Dambula cave and nearby attractions.

Amazing homestay in Dambulla. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. The AC worked. The bathroom was basic, but had no issues. There is a nice space outside to sit with chairs if you want. We used Dambulla as a base to explore the cultural triangle. Our hosts were super lovely and friendly and very accomodating, we had a great time getting to know them. The breakfasts (included in our booking) and dinner (cost extra) were both so tasty and we loved it. Our host is also a tuk tuk driver and he took us to Sigiriya and toured us around Anuradhapura in his tuk tuk - both trips for a very reasonable price. There is also a hill/rock behind the accommodation that you can climb up to watch the sunrise/sunset, which is lovely. Overall we have a lovely stay and would highly recommend it!

Amazing location, 5 min away from the Dambulla cave in a beautiful garden surrounded by jungle. Incredible kindness of the family and fantastic breakfast homemade by the couple. I also highly recommend to dine at the accommodation, food was delicious ! A stay full of memories, quiet and private

“Rustic cabin experience”

Owners were very welcoming and helpful beforehand with booking a taxi. The cabin is very charming - like a treehouse - but it was a little rustic and expect to see some bugs in there! They were really accommodating with giving us tuktuk rides and providing dinner for the night, although we weren't told how much these would be at the time. The location is super close to the cave temples (10 minute walk) but otherwise not that near other things. There is a restaurant in walking distance too.

They were very welcoming. The house is very well placed to visit Dambulla rock cave temple. Jenka and his wife made us very welcome. The room was great with a lovely balcony and place to relax. I would really recommend it. Great breakfast too.

Absolutely loved Girilena Resort! Stayed for 2 nights in 2 rooms and it was perfect. The garden is beautiful, and the owner’s family made us feel so at home. Super close to the Dambulla Caves too – a must-stay spot in Dambulla. Highly recommend!
