“I Was Locked Out All Night-Unsafe and Unacceptable”

I came back to the hostel around 2:45 a.m., but even though the hostel claims to have 24-hour reception, nobody opened the door. I knocked, rang, and called for over 15 minutes — nothing. I had no money, no ID, and almost no battery left. I had to spend the whole night outside. When I returned again at 9 a.m., it happened again — no one opened for 15–20 minutes. When I finally got in, the receptionist just told me I could still have breakfast and didn’t take me serious. He even didn’t believe me in the beginning this really happened. He later apologized and after negotiating agreed to a refund (I won’t pay for a night, that I couldn’t spend there!!🤦🏼‍♀️), but this doesn’t fix what happened. Being locked out twice, especially overnight as a girl, is unacceptable and unsafe. Worst experience of my life!

Clean, comfortable beds with individual lights & privacy curtains around them. Plenty of hot water in the showers. Nice staff. Decent breakfast. All around good value for the price point

“Central location / Worth the stay”

I had a really pleasant stay at Magar Hostel in Cusco. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable — a great place to relax, especially after long days exploring the city. The breakfast was tasty and filling, and I appreciated the on-site café/restaurant for a quick bite or coffee. The location is perfect: just a few minutes from the main square, yet quiet enough to rest peacefully.

The location is great near everything you need and the main touristic points, the staff is very friendly and helpful (specially Juan), the room and bathroom space and comfort is superb.

Amazing place and the best crew I met at my journey. Room has everything I needed, was clean. The food and drinks in a bar were great and they have live music performances every evening there. Recommend!

“Really great stay in Cusco”

The staff are amazing - they all go out their way to help you & make your stay pleasant! Such nice and friendly people. The communal spaces are cool & social. The private rooms are big & spacious. The showers are nice and warm. They let us leave our bags in the luggage room while we went to Machu picchu and when went to the jungle.
