Disappointing stay. The soundproofing is very poor, with way too much noise. The Wi-Fi is absolutely terrible unstable and basically unusable most of the time. The staff doesn’t speak English, which makes communication difficult. Breakfast is far from acceptable: no self-service, no variety, always the same food in very small portions. The drinks are bland and tasteless. On top of that, the hotel name shown on Booking is not the real name of the hotel. I only found out the actual name by reading other guests’ reviews. This is unacceptable, as it is misleading and causes confusion, and the hotel does not mention or correct this anywhere.

Dirty room, dirty sheets and bathroom. Window in the hall, so not much privacy, as the stairs are by the window. The sheets got changed after asking for it thought. Very friendly staff and great location.

“Beautiful hotel, centrally located, good value.”
The hotel is called Hotel Balcon del Arte. The entrance is set back from the street. I arrived late and was let in by the nightwatchman and given my room key directly. My street facing room was lovely. Large, clean and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was functional and clean. The shower was not always hot. Good wi-fi signal. Situated centrally, it was an easy walk to restaurants, shops and museums. The ladies who were on reception were friendly and helpful. Good value for money.

“An excellent hotel in Cuenca old town”
This one is a true gem. I have no idea if I'll ever return to Cuenca, but if I do, I'll look no further than this place. A bit difficult to find even if it can't be located more conveniently than it is. There is absolutely no sign in the street to indicate that there might be a hotel at this location. Which, by the way, is called "Balcon del Arte". And NOT "Hotel en el Centro Historico". Anyway, you'll need to look for a relatively deep hallway, enter it from the street and at the end of it ring a bell. Once you enter, you'll see a wonderfully furnished establishment. Rooms are every bit as good, clean, hot water reliable and wifi steady. No English is spoken, but Google Translate makes things smooth. The staff are very nice and helpful so eventually everything is sorted out easily.

“Very pleasant stay”
I've really enjoyed my stay at the Balcón del Arte Hotel, after booking my room I instantly received a message confirming all the hotel details (hotel name, address, contact details) and on the day of arrival I was greeted by a very lovely staff member (I'm sorry, I don't recall the name!). I received a key to my room as well as the front door, which is very helpful as it allows you to come and go without disturbing anyone. The room itself was clean, the bed was comfortable, bedding was warm AND... There's hot water in the sink and the shower! All my priorities have been met, so I can't complain at all haha Another bonus was that despite it being 6 degrees Celsius at night during my stay, this has somehow been the warmest hotel room I've stayed in whilst visiting Cuenca, which was a nice surprise, especially as there's no heating. Overall, this hotel offers the perfect location, perfect facilities, perfect care/treatment aaand the perfect price. Thank you so much and I will definitely be back! P.s. Regarding some things mentioned in the comments of previous guests: - Someone mentioned light coming in through the curtains; the light in the corridor is turned off at night, so although it can shine through the curtains when it's on in the early evening, it's not a problem during the night. My room was pitch black. - Someone also mentioned being concerned about the bathroom windows leading out into the hallway, because someone could potentially look inside... I don't think that's something to worry about, the windows are quite high up and someone would have to be very tall, or stand on something, in desperation to do that. 😅

“Name of the hotel didn't exist.”
The hotel is not called Hotel en El Centro Historico. It's called Balcon del Arte. It took me 35 mns in a taxi to find it and 10$ instead of 2$ from the bus station. I had to stop at each hotel on the road to find the hotel asking if it was the hotel.

The location is perfect, I walked everywhere. The staff was really nice and they changed the breakfast option when asked to. I liked that they cleaned the room only after I left the sign at the door. The key opened the door so I didn't have to be buzzed in each time. The room was nice and spacious and the bed comfortable.
