Overview

Situated in the beautiful village of Craigellachie, The Craigellachie Hotel of Speyside dates from 1893. This luxury hotel offers scenic views of the rivers Spey and Fiddoch, the Thomas Telford Bridge and surrounding mountains. The impressive Victorian building boasts picturesque views across the forest. All rooms feature en suite facilities, a TV and seating area. The Craigellachie Hotel offers over 700 whiskies in the Quaich Bar, with tasting sessions available. The Copper Dog Grill offers home-cooked dishes, prepared using local produce. Craigellachie Hotel is just 25 minutes from Cairngorm National Park, and excursions to Inverness and Loch Ness run locally. Elgin is less than 14 miles away. Craigellachie Salmon Fishing Beat is directly opposite the hotel, and many famous distilleries are within 30 minutes' drive. The area is a popular spot for hunting and walking. Nestled in the luxury valley of Speyside, The Craigellachie Hotel was described by Condé Nast Traveller as “the oldest and greatest whisky hotel in the world”. The Craigellachie has 26 bedrooms, and it’s home to the oldest pub in Speyside: the Spey Inn, an old drovers inn dating back to 1703, and to the world-renowned Quaich Bar, where guests and tourists can savour over 1,000 single-malt whiskies alongside some of the best cocktails. The luxury valley of Speyside is home to 70% of whisky distilleries and the most famous ones such as Macallan, Glenfarclas, Glenfiddich, Craigellachie and many more, are within a 20-mile radius from the hotel. Speyside is also renowned for its incredible scenery and the River Spey is just 3 minutes from the hotel. It is a spectacular place to come and visit for walks, tours or just relaxing. Speyside is known for being a microclimate and its food produce is regarded as some of the finest in the world. The Craigellachie offers free in-room WiFi, free parking and local staff to help you plan your best Speyside adventures. Our menus offer the finest local produce, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Good stop over location for touring round a number of local distilleries.

Nice big king sized room with two easy chairs. Old style highland hotel interior but nice and clean. Reception very friendly and helpful. Handy location for touring the area and just a short drive up to the coast. 5 miles from the Macallan Distillery where we had an excellent dinner!

Really cosy, stylish hotel. Scottish character with traditional decoration combined with contemporary styling. Very comfortable rooms with deep comfortable beds. Restaurant and whisky bar just lovely with very tasty food. Breakfast also impressive with a fabulous selection of locally sourced treats. Looking forward to going back soon.

We really enjoyed our stay at Craiggellachie Hotel. The staff were very welcoming and the hotel is very dog friendly. We arrived quite late due to an accident en route but we were quickly helped inside and seated for dinner. Our dog was welcome everywhere and fussed by everyone and we enjoyed retreating back to the fire in the pub after some snowy walks. The whiskey bar was a great spot to relax at the end of the day too. Good location if you are looking to explore the area and off road parking.

Enjoyable stay

We stayed for one night and unfortunately it was during a storm and the hotel/restaurant lost power. Hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible and the kitchen were able to provide all the residents with a cold evening meal. The hotel was full and the staff ensured that all the areas were lit by candles and we had a lovely evening talking to other residents as there was no phone signal or wifi due to the power outage. Power was back on in the morning and had a lovely breakfast.

Perfect Scottish get away

We were really looked after from arrival, our room also got upgraded which was a lovely surprise. The hotel has cosy Scottish feel, with beautiful surroundings. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed some drinks in the bar downstairs. The bed was extremely comfortable, we had the best sleep. The breakfast was included and it was delicious
