I had a great time at Mi Refugio, felt at home and ended up staying longer than anticipated. The dive house blends Airbnb-style coziness with hostel vibes. The owner is also a very well prepared diving instructor and offers guided dives or diving classes at a very competitive price. Very much recommended!

“Back home!”

This is the new and only place for Mi Refugio, check the picture to see the entrance! They will update everything but you still need to contact Abel to open the gate and go to the house. Yes it's an house, with a big room and just 4 beds, with a lot of space to put your bag and clothes! Comfy beds and socket. The kitchen is great, space and fridge to store your food, free water refill, needed just some pots :D Bathroom is big, clean and with hot water! There is a balcony, a bit tricky because the room could be noisy... better to bring earplugs! But you you are in a great location! 10 min from the ferry to Playa, the main square and 1 min from 2 different big cheap supermarkets and much more. Open space, garden available too, there is not much but has potential to make it a nice little open space where to chill, relax. Abel is a great host, super polite. Unfortunately I don't dive but the combination of staying there and dive with him it's the best choice! It's not an hostel but for sure you can get along with just 3 more people there, at least that's what happened to me and every time I had to go back for me it was going back home not back to a hostel!

Cool host, invites the guests for parties and there is the availability to dive! There is a nice big table where it is possible to do work on your laptop or have nice little feasts!

“Good. Close to center, cheap and functional”

Positive: We liked our stay here. Bedroom was big, windowed and with ensuite bathroom. The kitchen was equipped enough to make a good meal and had some extras like an electric oven. The staff was nice, accommodating and welcoming. They also offer diving tours. Negative: Noise coming from just outside the window, almost as if it was in our building, started at full volume at 6am. Which sounded like an air compressor (maybe for scuba tanks?). Loud music from a speaker at around 8. One of our mattresses should be replaced since there's a huge depression on its center because of use so I couldn't sleep very well. Kitchen and its appliances could be cleaner. It would come again though :)

Staff was ok and I was happy to be alone in dormitory. That was nice stay in amazing island.

“Great stay with a friendly dive team”

Mi Refugio is a friendly hostel with a focus on diving. It has six dorm beds in two spacious rooms and a private double bed room, all with showers. So not crowded and it has a kitchen so people often cook and socialize together. It is next to the market and local shops and restaurants and a 5 minute walk to the playa-ferry. Good value compared to other accommodation options in Cozumel, and a great choice for learning scuba and diving.

Perfectly situated hostel: you're right next to bars, restaurants and shops yet in a quiet street. Mi Refugio has great staff that genuinely care about their guests and are happy to arrange diving experiences for all levels. The room itself was spacious and bright. It even had a rack for your luggage and night stands! There's a shared kitchen with fresh coffee every morning. I liked that guests can pass over the groceries when they leave as to limit waste.

Private room was chill! Good to have own aircon. Spacious private room and bed was comfortable. Possible to dive with them if you want it

It was a working process when I stayed here. The kitchen was good. Very nice people running the place and they were interested in improving it. The common area was nice. Excellent diving. I enjoyed my time here.

Chilled, friendly atmosphere. Great place to stay for diving - especially for small group dives. Free coffee in the mornings! Property was under new administration just as we arrived.

I had a wonderful stay. The shops, restaurants and beach are very close. The beds ore very comfortable and you can get a good night sleep because it's not a party hostel. It was very easy to organize diving for a good price. The manager was very helpful and friendly.

Good location, big dorm room with just 3 beds; the cheapest price on Cozumel (200 pesos per night:)), owner tries to make this place sort of trust and open, so don't be surprised when you find out there are no lockers and main door remains open 24/7. However, I would say it's more an advantage and the place is safe
