“Sylvie's home-from-home accommodation is a perfect base for exploring lovely SW France”

This value-for-money accommodation was the deciding factor in our making a decision to come to Carcassonne for a fly-drive holiday in the beautiful Corbieres. The location in a discreet urban addition to the old wine village of Comigne exceeded expectations. I expected a shoddily-constructed 1980's home within earshot of the motorway, so was delighted to discover that Comigne is set amongst some of the most stunning vineyard countryside I have ever seen, and far removed from any noise pollution. Chez Sylvie was originally built for an elderly relative, and is built & finished to a very high standard. Great location! The main autoroute and national roads are 5 minutes drive away, reached via a tree-lined road. The nearest Intermarche (cc only) supermarket is at nearby Capendu, with further choices at Lezignan. If you drive south from Comigne you will find yourself en route to Montlaur, deep in the Corbieres. The award-winning village of Lagrasse is less than an hour away. We liked the comfortable, wide double bed that has nothing at the end of it to irritate tall people. We loved the walk in shower room. There is NO cubicle with difficult-to-open doors and cramped space! What there is is plenty of space, ample hot water, with a powerful flow that does not alternate from hot to cold. Bravo! We liked the kitchenette with its 2 ring induction stove to cook our morning porridge, and to heat up things like tins of cassoulet. There is also a mini-oven and ample-sized fridge, and there was a supply of basics like tea, coffee, salt, pepper and cooking oil. Sylvie is a fabulous host, who met us to hand over keys. She included wonderful extras such as a BBQ with charcoal, and (during the summer season) she is happy for her guests to enjoy a lovely bubbly jacuzzi in the yard, which offers both sunny and shaded areas. Sylvie really made us feel at home!
